Bangladesh does not belong in the same league with india, the best team all form of cricket -- tests, ODIs and T20. Sehwag kept his promise.

Too Good headline
by VancouverPunekar on Jan 21, 2010 08:56 PM

Considering the current context (Sehwag blabber - bangla fight back) and history (british rule-chitagong conspiracy) This is too good a headline Rediff has come up with, for a change....

Hopefully it is original

MOM for india
by thagadappa on Jan 21, 2010 07:38 PM  | Hide replies

I think BCCI should make a rule that regardless of who hits the century Sachin should be delared MOM if he has scored at leat one run.

This is a good decison as Sachin score 100 with 3 easy lives where as Gambir score with out any lives in the 4th innings.

Gambir and Amit M should be shown door for not scoring 200 and 100 respectively.

If u remember in 2001 sereis against AUS,Sachin didnt contribute much and it was a series for Bhajji and Laxman but in the end Bhajji credited sachin for his good show as he said "Uske Haath mein jaado hain",this was after sachin took some tailenders wickets in Kolkatta test(dravid and laxman test)

I also remember in the Chennai test 1999 Afridi scored 141 and also took 3 wickets, sachin scored 136 which didnt win us the game and still sachin was MOM,he cried in the dressing room and didnt come out(told by himself in his interview, like how he cried in 1997 in WINDIES after we couldnt chase 120 to win a test under his leadership)so ur right, sachin no matter what he does will somehow be credited

Its just a trend,u cant leave him out at all..
If Mike Denness catches him redhanded BCCI bullies ICC and even forces the test match to be unofficial,Steve Bucknor gives sachin out and he is kicked out..
U cant mess with the master blaster

I doubt how much Cricket you understand?
When someone scores a century with lower order's support, when entire top order (including Gambhir) collapses, its value is much higher than a century scored on a wicket that is becoming easier every day....
Be objective for a change and keep Sachin betting at bay..

gambhir is great .. no doubt... however sachin's century came when there was bad light...you may have seen others getting out just because of bad light..catches dropped are common for all.. what about batsmen getting out for wrong decisions!.. thankfully, he was not a victim this time..

Its not players' prerogative to stop.
Its only when the umps offer bad light when a batsman can take it or reject it..

AP:

Either the umpires were wrong in not offering bad light or the light was not that bad.
Which one do u think is right :)

Second, bad light is something which is decided by umpires but u still can let them know.
U appeal even when there is an umpire. Player's prerogative :)

Yes.
Gambhir's scored the hundred for his personal record and was nothing when compared to Tendu's hundred.
I fully agree with u :)

dont worry about that. I think Shahid Afridi should be declared the Man of Terrorist Cricketer.

dont devide. in a match with many players contributing, still has only one mom. So be it.

Shivaraman:

a) This is NOT the 2001 series.
b) Bhajji did NOT credit Sachin with taking any tail ender wickets in this match. It was Amit Mishra who took the tail ender wickets in this match
c) Sachin scored 136 in Chennai test. He didn't lose that test match to Roger Federer. It was India playing Pakistan

It is good of YOU to remember all those incidents. And you are accusing the Jury of the Chittagong test of crediting Sachin no matter what? :)

And Bucknor wasn't kicked out because he gave Sachin out, in case you know your cricket. :)

I acknolwedge that it was a very poor move by BCCI to storm ICC into that decision after a emotionally charged match, but if you are linking even that with Sachin, then I know where you are coming from.... :)

gambir should equal bradman record
by R Balasubramanian on Jan 21, 2010 07:04 PM  | Hide replies

The next test is a great chance for Gambir to hit another century in a row and equal Bradman's record.
The Man of the Match should have been shared by Gambir and Sachin since it was because of Gambir India could post a dignified score in the 1st innings else the result would have been otherwise.
Sachin as a great sportsman should have invited Gambir also while receiving the award but its too much expectation in todays world, by me.

U r right, but here importance of sachin's inning was more as india was in trouble and his century came at right time. though he could share his MOM with Gambhir.

its little difficult to accept your view. Both centuries were important. Just imagine if even Gambir would have failed in 1st innings? Bangla Desh made every effort to save the match. Its great of them to have reached morethan 300 runs which I doubt India could have done in their earlier days. Think of Wadekar's and Bedi's days.

both performed well, but if we try to read the mind of commentators who decides this then they go for sachin because if team comes in pressure because of low score in 1st inning team's moral would have been went down. and team could not perform even in 2 inning.

I think you mean the 2nd innings.... :)

BTW, the situation was more perilous in the first innings, and hence the MOM decision.

If the MOM wasn't shared, that too becomes Sachin's fault? :)

Great!! :)
