Someone please clarify this

If I remember correct, the IPL rules said that Icon Players (Sachin is one of them) will get 15 percent more than the highest paid player bought from auction.

As per "sources", Pollard has been bought for a price of 2.5 million dollars or Rs.11.66 crores. Will the owners of Mumbai Indians team now revise Sachin's pay package to 2.875 million dollars for this year?

750K a bit too much for this guy
by Jay on Jan 21, 2010 11:32 AM  | Hide replies

I feel 750K dollars is a bit too much for this average slogger from the Caribbean. In all honesty, he's no different than Afridi. In T20, any player can become an overnight hero. Remember Yusuf Pathan from '08 ?? he was a hero across India. Since then he's disappeared like a puff of dust. I won't be surprised of Pollard goes down that same road. A total waste of cash by Nita Ambani !

How would you set a value. That is the price which was bid for. If you want pollard thats what he had to pay. It is the market forces. You cannot judge what a player is worth at a time. It is timing and demand at that time and form of the player and what he is coming off and all that. It is simple like the stock market. You cannot really say this is not right price and all.

Do you really think 20-20 tickethat you buy which am sure is much higher then a test match ticket is valued the same way for the cricket it presents?? No! same there. It is the market dynamics that dictate terms.

Well I hope this 'market' price for the black guy pays dividends to Mumbai. Bravo proved useful cause he's been a quality cricketer for the Windies over the years. The last thing this IPL needs is to be called a league of over hyped misfits.

I don't know if he was worth the price. Sure, on his day, he can blast the attack but it won't be long when bowlers start analyzing him and start spotting his weaknesses. Few battles I'd love to see, Warne v Pollard and Bond v Pollard.

Mr Pollard,IPL is the place where there will be no cake walk, worlds best fast bowlers would be around barring pakistani bowlers so your brand of batting will not necessarily be successful.

Pollard uses the well known tactic of sachin bhajan. I guess assures him a good place in the team.
