Sehwag is right - Bangladesh is indeed an ordinary side, just because they dominated the first day play doesn't mean they have become a good test side. Tendulkar is still on the wicket and there are four more days to go. There is every chance that India will make a comeback strongly and dominate the test match.

Very well said. We must concede that India played more ordinary cricket than Bangladesh, but we were never known for our consistency anyway, so that's all right. :)

;-)... Good point.
Else Legionnaire etc. will have to defend why our first innings batting has been "more ordinary" than the Bangladesh team's usually low standards... ;-)
T'Kar said he wasn't knew that how many tuns required him to reach at 13K? you can't make people fool. Yes I am still agreed that he is the greatest batsman.

Hat teh match been against the Porkis, we cud hav hoped Sree and ishant to score centuries :)
Bangladesh are definitely going to loses this match..cant understand what this all about..Sehwag is indeed right, Bangladesh is an ordinary side..why cant ppl accept honesty?
Re: whats this about??
by naveen dhanerwal on Jan 18, 2010 07:56 AM
Deepak, this is not about accepting that banglesh is comparetively a weaker side but this is about showing respect towards their opponents. bangladesh have done some miracles before and anyone in cricket can do this anytime. So why you need to say something like that? Let's your performance speak about this! When Sehwag said "Bangladesh can't take 20 wickets of India in a test even Srilanka can't" that was overconfidently said and look what situation India is in today, 213/8 and situation would be worse had they caught Sachin.

TenduJhooth:
I didn't rant anything about Sachin, did I? :)
And if you still feel that he shouldn't have added 76, you are free to believe that. :)
In fact the selfish Sehwag shouldn't have added a 50 to his personal records either, and we all could have happily started bowling at Bangladesh before tea on the first day to prove how we defend a score of 80. :)

Rocky:
You don't know why he said that? :)
That means you didn't read the above article fully...
He said that when he was asked about becoming the only batsman to score 13,000 runs...
Obviously some people did NOT know that he doesn't play for records, so they asked... :) But all's well that ends well, coz in the process it enhanced YOUR knowledge too.... :)

not only winning total sachin.but a SMASHING total on a board.i think lookng at the total SHHEWAHG will like to declare
Shewag is an all-time master batter, but a subpar leader - because strategic communication is an essential part of leadership. You do not display guts or honesty by bad-mouthing your opponent, but total stupidity. And I am not talking about being an ambassador etc. Suppose you declared that your opponent is weak, and then beat him, your victory would not improve your image, but your (chance) defeat will make you look stupid. But if you said something like *oh, my opponent has some good shots, or he can play well on his day* then you have *hedged* your future. Also, consider any world champion - who (other than Mohamid Ali) ever says, I am the greatest? Federer? no. Tiger Woods? no. Sachin Tendulkar (the greatest batter of all time)? never. Putting down the opponent before the game only helps to motivate them and their fan-base. Praising them can serve to catch them off-guard.

VIRU DIDNT TELL THEY ARE THE BEST OR THEY CAN BEAT EVERYONE... HE JUST SAID BDESH IS A ORDINARY TEST PLAYING NATION... SO WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL IN IT????AUSI ALWAYS SAY THEY WILL BEAT THE OPPOSING TEAM 5-0..BE A SPORT MAN...BTW FROM WHEN DID SRT BECAME THE greatest batter of all time ..SO IS THIS NOT A BOASTING BY U ....

WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL IN IT????
Read the headlines, analysis and opinions around the world. Full of sarcasm with tongue in cheek. With such comments, Sehwag has invited unnecessory criticism for himself and the team India, the last thing any team would want to keep their moral high. Nobody wants unnecessory controversies loose and get themshelve mentally occupied with it. And at the end their game suffers in such circumstances.
Read what Tendulkar said, 'Go ask Sehwag he made comments and not me..' Nobody is willing to defend Sehwag, cause what Sehwag said was plain stupid.
Another thing, Bangladesh and India both are passionate about their cricket and Sehwag has deffinately created unnecessory animosity.
I am sorry I am not yelling, so I didn't type in all capitals..

Exactly!! The Humility. Very good point,.
Un-Sachin, Ponting with such talent and records, but never be considered all time greats, cause he lacks Humility.. Sehwag needs to learn from Pontings example and correct himself before it gets too late

Gorango: It is called gamesmanship. Sewag lived up to his promise with a 50. The only problem is his team mates didnt share Sewag's enthu.
Now, the Bangladeshis are going to find out what Sewag erally meant in the second innings.
Re: Re: Shewag afflicted by Foot-in_Mouth disease...
by Against Pseudos on Jan 18, 2010 08:14 AM
Talisman:
Sehwag did NOT live up to his promise. He didn't say "Bangladesh cannot get ME out 20 times." He said Bangladesh cannot take Indian wickets. So he lied. :) BTW, he even insulted Sri Lanka in the process, if you read his complete comments. :)

TenduJhooth:
Exactly. That is what I said above, didn't I? Whereas Talisman wants us to believe that because Sehwag scored a 50, the other 8 wickets' loss doesn't mean anything. :).... BTW, when he said "the other team mates didn't share Sehwag's enthu", didn't he tacitly admit that it was Sehwag's enthu, rather than his wisdom and correct assessment of our strengths, which was put in full display during the press conference? :)
Re: Re: Shewag afflicted by Foot-in_Mouth disease...
by mrpaki on Jan 18, 2010 07:07 AM
This is Test buddy. Isn't 50 an average score?
By the way, if Bangla score heavily in their first inning, India may crumble under pressure (more pressure now due to Sehwag's comments) in the 2nd inning. That's what History has shown..

Whether its crocodile, Lion or a Tiger. IT never tells its prey that it will kill and eat. It hides, remains silent catches on time in surprise.
Sehwagh really did a stupid thing by announcing they are weak team. He should tell once he wins, not before. He will be a joke if he lose the match.....! Gorango Thakurta is right !
After a few minutes of gentle questions about the day's play, the first salvo was fired. What do you have to say about Sehwag's statement about Bangladesh having an "ordinary" bowling attack? Tendulkar's face muscles tightened as he peered out at the questioner and said, "He [Sehwag] said it. You have to go and ask him. I won't be answering questions of that kind." Silence, murmurs and more gentle questions followed.
The Headline on Cricinfo: Bangladesh all over ordinary India
Lot more to come yet on the stupid comments made by this braindead fellow, and al the negative comments weill be pointed at India the country because of this foolish moron..

Not sure, if sewag is the brain dead here. It seems it suits you better. If you watch sports long enough, you will understand.
Re: Re: The Braindead Sehwag
by naveen dhanerwal on Jan 18, 2010 06:18 AM
What..what is understanding here, Talisman? One has to show respests for their opponents. Remember, just before world cup 2007 Anil kumble said it's hectic schedule for them ahead; "there is Champions Trophy just after the world cup final" He said this even before playing a single match. So he thought they were sure to be one of the finalist! Bangladesh took this as a chalange and made India sure to have enough time before CT. In you your another post you said Sehwag completed his responsibility hitting 50 but what about others. He can't be sure about others too!
Laxman n dravid always perform well in both india and outside india both are solid prayers n continously performing well from last two year just one inning they got out cheeply so they are lazy prayers its not correct.

True. Dravid in Particular. He is the mainstay on Indian batting in Test. We have many Monday morning quarterback here, who just reacts one inning performance..
Re: hii vinay ur wrong
by Lotiya Pathan on Jan 18, 2010 01:51 AM
Then Yuvrajsingh should not be in the test team. There are many many deserving players to be in the Test team
its not merely their bowling. it was our rash strokes. it was lazy laxman who didnt try to get back to the crease after failing to connect the bat. it was foolish yuv who gave a catch to midwicket on the full toss. dinesh karthik. rubbish shot.
only dismissal worth some praise was of dravid but even he didnt do justice to his name wall when he was yorked.

If they had taken Tendulkar's catch at 16, they simply let it go from the first slip, he would had not been saying about partnerships. ;-)
Now he badly needs a partnship to complete his century, a personal landmark.

All players get a life during there innings and if you think about that and play will not work.. Think other the shots played if they had not played they were out bowled... right? :):D I am not sure when you guys are going to count the values of our own players... very bad...

ok sachin completes his century and India reach 250....then sachin will take his personal landmark with him to his home( because it is his personal thing).....and indian total will still read 250( because sachin 100 was never a part of the total..it was just his personal landark)......

You may have a point on Yuvaraj and Karthik. I dont know about lax and dravid - who are great players.
But BCCI could have made sure india got to play atleast one practice match.
Those youngsters cannot even score a hundread in domestic matches. you want to send those punks to represent india. form your own team.
Re: Re: time to groom youngsters.
by vinay on Jan 17, 2010 11:46 PM
which youngsters r not scoring hundreds.
pujara has been scoring big hundreds, double n triples, with great temperament. badri has been consistent domestic player. pandey has been scoring runs in crisis situations.
