Current pacers

India is playing with pacers likes Sree Santh, Nehra, Ishant, RP & company for the last years or so and everybody is conceding runs more than 6 runs per over without taking enough wickets! Still they are in the team having no talent of batting and their fielding is worst. I don\'t understand why Irfan pathan and Agarkar are out of the team. Agarkar has a better avg and strike rate than all who are playing in the team, a very good fielder and handy batsman. Look at his record in this season for Mumbai, 400 runs at an avg of 45 and 18 wickets. His most of the runs came when his team was in deep toruble. Irfan Pathan is too better than our current pacers in the team! He is much better all rounder than Jadeja. If they are playing with 6 batsmen and an allrounder at no 7, i\'d always pick Pathan instead of Jadeja. Sehwag, raina, yuvi can bowl spin with front line spinner. So what need an extra spinner in the team?

u r absolutely correct. with irfan in the playing XI, dhoni go with 2 specialist spinners and 3 pacers. irfan should come in place of jadeja and mishra could replace sreesaanth.
1 more thing, nehra should be dropped due to his very poor bowling and very very very poor fielding. selectors can try other bowlers like tyagi, dinda, gony, rp or munaf patel

why you people afraid to mention name of zeher khan who performs 2/3 times in the whole year and then claims to be india bowling spearhead... even in this series 3 w in one match and biased people gave him mom... and zero wkts in remaining matches... for that he should have been given mos... this guy needs to be kicked out of the team and sooner the better but looks like he will keep his place for long time just coz no one dare a cricketer with name zeher khan...

Well Arvin, you may be right but in current scenario he is supposed to be our best bowler. But off-course rest are all just pieces of crap, no good for international level. Look st their fielding (nehra, RP, Ishant, Parveen Kumar's). They are worse fielders in the team. They don't know how to stay on pitch if required, except Parveen Kumar.

Naveen, we need to keep Agarkar out of india team. In the recent Ranji final, he was fined for showing dissent when given run out. Naveen dont blindly support Mumbai cricketers. They are a nice bunch but sometime show crude attitude only exception is sachin.

Naveen...I agree that current pacers should be rested but disagree that Agarkar likes should given a chance. Best think would be to pick up some good pacers from current Ranji matches and give them chance. I am sure they can not be worst then our current bowlers.

Rocky, I wonder if you'd have noticed that when a new bowler comes he bowls at a good speed but after a series or two it reduces after every series. Agarkar was used to bowl at abowe 140 in his peak days and still he bowls at the same speed. If I'm not wrong he is the fastest (who are still playing) bowlers in India. Whoever has been tried recently has conceded runs, even at a higher rate than agarkar. You can compare their records with agarkar and I'm sure you'll find Agarkar far better than all.

Agarkar was in deed the faster bowler India had (baring Srinath). But so was Munaf Patel. What happens is that our coaches try to convert genuine fast bowlers to line and length bowlers and in the end the lose both their pace as well as accuracy.

Talking about Agarkar - His performance in the Ranji Trophy is really commendable. But, Agarkar is past his prime. Each captain would have strike bowler on whom he reposes faith in. Azaruddin had Agarkar (and of course our war horse - Srinath). Zaheer and Irfan flourished during Ganguly's reign. Sreesanth became a star during Dravid's days at the helm. Now its Zaheer and Ishant for Dhoni.

proved again
by naveen dhanerwal on Jan 15, 2010 03:46 PM  | Hide replies

Well, this is proved again. India haven't won any single ODI tournament (in which three or more than three teams have been played) without Sachin's presence.
People say Sachin doesn't performe in big matches but he averages 55 in final matches. Total 1833 runs in 38 innings, while Sehwag has made just over 400 runs in 17 outings.
Out of 39 finals India have played (in which sachin has played) India won 16 and Sachin has contributed in 14 out of those. Now Sachin haters should realize what Sachin's presence does in the Indian team!

Good start of year 2010......
by Anurag Rathore on Jan 15, 2010 10:18 AM  | Hide replies

India played well in first tournament of this year except 1st match.

1.India middle order performed so well throught the series. Kohli, Raina and Dhoni played so well.

2.Indian bowlers bowled so well in dew comparison to other teams. Srilanka won by 4 wickets while India was one bowler short in final. It was very good effort by indian bowlers. On the other hand India won by big margin when chased. Lankan bowlers looked helpless in dew.

Overall all satisfactory performance by India.

India failed miserably when it mattered most, thats what counts. We are not interested in individual performances, but as a team they failed to deliver. No amount of arguments will prove otherwise..

If you review the tournament you will found that team batting second won the match throughout the tournament. The main thing is whenever India bat 2nd India won comprehensively by big margin and whenever India bat 1st they put strong fight against opposition like in final.
