About Agarkar..
by howudoudo on Jan 16, 2010 09:00 AM

This is only the first time in 14 years of his cricketing career that he had ever been called by the referee for any sort of dissent/misbehaviour.

Agarkar's wicket was sneakily stolen by KN players when the ball was dead. Ball went straight to a nearby player. No run was possible everyone knew it at that point. Ball went dead and was mock practicising the shot when the wicket-keeper Gautam who had the ball at that point on time, waited (not in the play of the game) till Agarkar's foot was just out as he was mock practising the shot and then flicked the bails.

To further compound the event, when Agarkar was asking the umpire about the incident, some KN players came up to him and heckled him.

This incident brought un-needed acrimony between the teams. It also was a rallying point for Mumbai who gave their best to win the match.

But Seriosly!

The young and inexperienced Karnataka team nearly won the match (Scored 331 in last innings, done in by some poor umpiring decisions) and there are still some people harping about Agrakar to be included in the India team (Incidently guy does not even know the rules)!

not sure whether agarkar understanbd the rules, but one surely.
Whoever appealed and claimed his wicket dont understand the 'spirit of the game'.

Do the umpires given wrong decission on Amit Verma and Ganesh Satish at a crucial stage ( WHICH IS SHOWN REPEATEDELY IN RV REPLAY ) understand the spirit of the game. They should not favour any team during empiring, otherwise they are not fit to call empires.

Do the empires given wrong decision on Amit Verma and Ganesh Satish at a crucial stage and made the difference know the spirit of the game (whichn is repeatedely shown in the TV Replay). Empires should not favour any particular team, otherwise they are unfit to call themselves as empires. They must have worked under the behest of BCCI, which is in Mumbai.

Advantage given to Karnataka, why???
by Satish D on Jan 15, 2010 04:07 PM  | Hide replies

First of all final match should be on neutral venue so Mysore was not the correct choice.
If Agarkar is punished for his argument then who is to be blamed for not taking
pitch cover 2 Hrs before start of play on the 4th day. This gave advantage to
Karnataka’s over night batsman as Mumbai pace bowler did not get advantage of
moist in the pitch. Who will be fined and by whom for this wrong deed?

lets also have all bilateral series at neutral venues so that no team gets "home advantage".

Do you know what was the best part of the match?
The stadium was jam packed with spectators, with some people even climbing on trees and watching.
Will something like this happen if a match is played at a neutral venue?

Just so as you know, it works alternate in case of Ranjis..
Now next time Mumbai - Karnataka clash in a ranji, it will be played in Mumbai.

I dont know about the pitch cover incident though. If that has happened, then thats really bad and i agree with you here ..

Indian Pacers

India is playing with pacers likes Sree Santh, Nehra, Ishant, RP & company for the last years or so and everybody is conceding runs more than 6 runs per over without taking enough wickets! Still they are in the team having no talent of batting and their fielding is worst. I don't understand why Irfan pathan and Agarkar are out of the team. Agarkar has a better avg and strike rate than all who are playing in the team, a very good fielder and handy batsman. Look at his record in this season for Mumbai, 400 runs at an avg of 45 and 18 wickets. His most of the runs came when his team was in deep toruble. Irfan Pathan is too better than our current pacers in the team! He is much better all rounder than Jadeja. If they are playing with 6 batsmen and an allrounder at no 7, i'd always pick Pathan instead of Jadeja. Sehwag, raina, yuvi can bowl spin with front line spinner. So what need an extra spinner in the team?

I completely agree on inclusion of both Agarkar and Pathan. Both of them with Zaheer complete the pace department. However, I would rather drop a batsman than Jadeja who is a so electrifying in the field and a smart bowler apart from a handy batsman. He is certainly someone to groom. Who says there should be only one all rounder in the team. We can have three. Pathan, Jadeja followed by Agarkar.

Mumbais win
by Ashok Shetty on Jan 15, 2010 12:01 PM  | Hide replies

Karnataka played with 11 players and Mumbai won by playing with 13 players, shame on empires for giving wrong decission on Amit Verma and Ganesh Satish at a crucial stage, which was repeatedly shown in the TV replay, which is made the difference. Empires should not favour any particular team, they should be neautral. For Agarkers out, they have refered to 3rd empire, he has given the decission.

Karnataka played with 11 players where as Mumbai played with 13 players, the wrong decission of Mr. Amith Verma and Ganesh Satish made the difference. Empires always should play a Neutral roll, they should not favour a particular team. Agarkers out was not given by the Ground empires, but by the third empire.
