The reality is "it's the usual face saving statement when one fails".
One thing is very clear, right from the days of Alan Donald/Lance Klusner bungling the last run in the semi-final till date, RSA, without any doubt, the top cricket team today, very effectively catch the opponents, by the ba**s, but knows only to keep care**ing them instead of cr**hing.

Did you watch the match? Collingwood and Bell played well. Dale Steyn bowled his heart out with the new ball. Its just not their day. I'm sick of this choking business being thrown around. Yes, SA have screwed up in tournaments before but that was before. Their tests series record is still very good despite recent losses. Many teams have also screwed up when they would win; I know a number of occasions when India have fluffed their chances, I don't see them being called chokers.
