Sreejit Steve:
In Modi's language - "Legally Warne may be correct. But he has a stigma around him for the same and as such the governing council has decided to withdraw his name from the auction."
So all YOU have proven is that Warne's drug abuse and sexcapades did NOT put a stigma around him? :-)

Is there a law in cricket, that if you have drugs and sexcapades, you are declared as clean bold, or retired hurt ?

Gaurav Kaul:
Discretionary powers imply that you can deny him entrance. You cannot fabricate charges to justify that denial. Cairns has all the right to sue Modi. USA might deny Shahrukh Khan entrance into its territory, but it cannot start spreading rumours that Shahrukh is actually a business partner of Osama Bin Laden. Get it?

what arrogance>???They did a very good thing..punters and match fixing punks who have no respect for the game dont have teeth to play a straight fair game..HE DESERVED WHAT HE GOT!WAY TO GO..MODI
Re: Re: arrogance
by vox populi on Jan 08, 2010 02:24 PM
there is a difference between allegations and convictions-even modi can be accused of match fixing-so is that the gospel truth?
Re: Re: Re: arrogance
by Gaurav Kaul on Jan 08, 2010 02:30 PM
THERE is no fire without smoke..He was dismissed bcoz officials considered that they sufficient evidence to warrant his dismissal from the game for playing unfairly...
where has Modi been dismissed or any tangible accusation of match fixing allegationbeen heaped upon him?
A Blatant Example of The Pot Calling the Kettle Black !If Mr.Modi is so Stringent on Players,in Chris's case, there is No Proof as of yet;what is he a "CONVICTED" Drug Trafficker doing in the same Circus of IPl,other than Looting Money ?????????

Very true, Ash Ban. Modi now heads the cricketing mafia that is also known as IPL.Indian cricketers will continue to be plagued by injuries and inconsistency as long as they give priority to the Indian Pathetic League just for the sake of money.
Kudos Mr Modi. You showed charachter which Indians show rarely. It will free the system from wrongdoers and also upheld the dignity of India and IPL. When Warne and Smith wanted to leave IPL midway after Jaipur blast u showed the same strength and made them follow the line. Great....

Modi is arrogant to the core but carries clout in BCCI thanks to IPL,his creation.Let us allow him his due till something similar to what has hit tiger catches up with him as well.
Re: Very Good Move
by madganesh on Jan 08, 2010 04:34 PM
That is untrue. Cairns did not fix any match. The only mistake he did was playing with an injury. Modi had no business to talk to the Media abt this. Some decency atleast..
Modi should not be arrogantly dismissive of great cricketers like Chris Cairns just because he controls the powerful IPL. A time may soon come when he will be thrown out of IPL. Indian cricketers should stop dancing to his tunes and keep playing for money in the IPL and risking more injuries, thereby spoiling their career.

great cricketer? Once a person gets involved in fixing, he can't be termed as great. Do we talk about Azar's great batting now?

Remember Chris Cairns had no taint during his playing days. Modi can't accuse Cairns of match fixing based on hearsay information. Azhar's case is entirely different but remember other black sheep got away without having their role investigated.
