few websites provides really basic stuff on Cricket:
1. Wikipedia
2. BBC sport academy
3. yehahicricketdotcom
4. eazynearticlesdorcom and many more.
Apart from that google is best tool to find any dam basic info. Once one passes basic level to advnaced then he should watch cricket matches for atleast 2/3 years to understand game practically. Then ca use sites like cricinfo for knowing playing nations and players. Then next step would be to read columns written by various experts to understand different viewpoints on cricket. Next step would be do some calculation and comparisons of some players(not great ones). Then if still some enthu left then try to analyse what are great players and what exactly they did in their career to become great. And finally still somebody feels Sachin is not great then change citizenship to Afghanisthan of Somalia.

Thats why Tendulkar went to Bangladesh in 2004-2005.

Also his highest score in Test cricket is against this minnows, not against any other team.

How can 2009 be immensely sucessful for India in terms of ODI/t20
by Jathie Kent on Jan 03, 2010 10:14 PM  | Hide replies

I am surprised to find that India had a successful 2009 year when it comes to ODI/T20. I know we became no 1 in test but in ODI we were knocked out early in Champions trophy, lost t20 early too. Our fielding and bowling is being blamed. Ok, fair enough. I hear Kaif is doing good in domestic cricket. What abt him? why he is not being second chance? Bowling, how come Rajasthan royals find new good Indian bowlers and Indian Board doesnt?

The problem is Team India wins in bi-lateral series in which there is hardly any competition and its all money that flows on the foreign team. Last year, Indian sport suffered many blows due to terrorism as foreign teams did not sent their teams in ganes like archery, boxing etc. But England played 5 ODI and 2 Test matches, australia came with lots of rookies and their key players injured/half fit, only for tonnes of cash. Winning/losing was not important.

When it comes to playing competitive cricket, Team India is a first round crasher - ICC CT in 2005 and 2009, WC 2007 and T20 WC 2009 are perfect examples to prove that Team India does not have temperament to win big tournaments. Their No. 1 standing in cricket is due to hefty money showered by the corporates./BCCI.

Mohammad Kaif is history now. Lots of experiments by BCCI killed him. Same happened to Irfan Pathan. They tried to make him a front line batsmen and he got confused. Take Mitchell Johnson, he still plays on No. 8 even he has proved himself as a capable batsmen. He continues to be a great bowler.

Cricket is the only game which would succeed in India. Because its an entertainment like Movies and soap operas of Ekta Kapoor.

India, a country of 120 crores with GDP growing at 7-8% and a booming stock market, does not have room for any other sport except for cricket as entertainment friendly Indian viewers have no interest in sports.

so become no. 8 in cricket and no. 100 in football. why play football? how many people likes it in India. Or because whites play it thats why. 40 years back winning gold in hockey was not big deal and only few nations played it. people like you would have said same things then. see where hockey is now and you blame association for not taking care off. todat cricket is taken care off and we must remain in top three unlike hockey where we lost our ground.
