Ashish Nehra!

Even I for an moment let out a laugh after seeing his name, but the next second I did remember his 6-23 Vs England at PE in WC 2003. He was really amazing. And I believe he is the only Indian Bowler to have clocked 149 kmph, fastest delivery recorded by an Indian bowler!

Everyone cannot be a Sachin or Jayasuriya to have the same firepower after so many years of cricket!

The conditions under which Tendulkar scored this double ton...
by azaad bharat on Feb 26, 2010 11:55 AM  | Hide replies

1. Pitch was absolutely dead. Even Dale Steyn was finding it hard to reach 135 kmph.
2. No Quality spinners playing in SA side.
3. SA was relying on their pace bowlers, one of whom was injured. Langeveldt was a hero, bowling after his left eye was badly injured. How do one expect to bowl good like that? And we Indians felt proud by thrashing him!!! I felt sad for him.
4. The ground was small. Mind you, India was batting first. So they were under no stress of chasing a huge total like 400 .
5. Again the pitch was so bad that ball was coming to bat very nicely. Even Karthik was hitting boundaries every other ball.
6. And we are forgetting the strike rate of MS Dhoni in the same match. By the pace he was hitting (ddin't I mention about the dead pitch), he sure would have scored a double ton in 100 balls only. But thats the irony of being captain. He has sacrificed more than any other indian cricketer. If he was not captain, he would not have demoted himself down the order, and by now he sure would have scored many more centuries. And may be a couple of double ton too!!

I have no intention to take any credit from Tendulkar. He sure is a great player. But we must also see the above facts, and not just blindly declare him God or something. Get a life, fellow citizens. He is just a great sports person.

When Shane Warne used to play in Australiya, the pitches were made for him.So its not a new thing. The problem with people like you is that you people always look at what others are doing. Why to be like others. Why you wann the pitches should be like Perth/Sydney?? Does they wann the pitches like US?
Are they only correct??

You are still a Servent of others.Sick Mind.

You are talking as if this is the only ground and the only instance of an ODI match held on a dead pitch!

By your own theory, its not a big deal that SA chased 438 after Aus made 434 because class bowlers like Allan Donald, Glen McGrath, Shane Warne were not playing !

And finally, its not Sachin's decision to decide the ground conditions!

I agree. I personally value smaller scores made in tougher conditions to be far bigger than these flat wicket scores. However it is amazing that he had the luck to get to a 200.

Hey Azaad Bharat, when SA chased 438 vs Aus I am sure the pitch wasn't a seaming wicket, am 100% sure it was a batting track too. And that time each and everyone were saying what a great side SA and Aus are!! And now that an Indian creates a record you come up with all these facts!!! It's about time you get a life man. It's always the case, when India team or an Indian player does something good then all of a sudden external factors come into play but when other teams or players create records then they are deemed to be amazing teams/players. And the funny part is that these comments and observations are coming from Indians, whereas the entire world is praising Sachin for his double ton. Oh yes, you forgot 1 simple fact too. You don't play international cricket for 2 decades by just being a great sports person. Think about it while you try to get a life for yourself.

Huh!!! hahaha... Ashish Nehra?!!! I am wondering if Parnell is making fun of nehra... Parnell is a far far better player than the stup!d nehra. He just knows to laugh with a broad mouth after every boundary he gives.. as if he is the best bowler in the world and how could the batsmen ever hit him for 4s and 6s.. Real Nut Nehra. Send him to the Afghanistan team..they are improving now and Nehra will balance it ;)

Terrific Tendulkar Dawn Editorial
Friday, 26 Feb, 2010

There are many truly wondrous things about Sachin Tendulkar breaking the world record for the highest one-day score and becoming the format’s first double centurion, in effect cracking one of cricket’s many four-minute miles. He is months away from turning 37 and he batted through 50 overs.

He has now been in the game for over 20 years. He did it not against minnows but a top side and the best fast bowler today. And for years he has looked the most likely to do it. But above all was the simplicity with which he greeted his feat: arms raised, a smile, and a peek up to the great beyond. No leaps, no fist-punches or extravagance, only humility. It has been the leitmotif of one of sport’s greatest, most significant careers, for the most remarkable thing about Tendulkar is that he is still Tendulkar 20 years on.

He remains as committed and devoted to the sole idea of scoring runs and winning matches as any teenager taking his first steps in the game. The game today is not the same he came into. For one, greater riches are now available. Tendulkar is part of the reason for this abundance and is its beneficiary as well. Countless other distractions offer themselves. But he remains the Countless other distractions offer themselves. But he remains the same, the focus, priority and hunger untouched and untainted, his skills undimmed.

All cricketers, but particularly some on this side of the border

No. Not at all. AB can play as a keeper... but Boucher is one of their best batsman boy.. and Wayne Parnell almost won the 1st ODI match for them. Bet you didnt see that match then. If he is not their star player of this tour.. you wont be reading this article either. Its not about what you want, its about wht the reality is. You can play with M.Morkel in your backyard match. At best is he will replace Langeveldt. Jus wait till tomorrow and dont hide away...ok? :P

Tsosobe will get a game so one of the bowlers will miss out. Morne might not get a game. Roelof will play instead of Botha. Boucher will definitely play so Duminy will go out. Peterson might get swapped for Bosman.
