When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam.
When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters.
The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will.

he is not a regular contributor. Hence the importance of his post. Also, those facts put Sachin's feats in proper perspective.

Re: Indian team capability

Ha ha, play without Dhobi, lets see where the team goes. Sachin bats this well, but can he captain the team to such glory (no offence to Sachin, he is the boss)?
Sachin - a great cricketer and a gentleman. Anyone who ignores that is giving expression to ugly jealousies and irrational dislikes and using narrow logic and statistics as a cover. One can use statistics to say anything.
To all those passing nasty comments abt sachin, What is yr contribution towards india or indian cricket? Hav u ever held a bat and faced a fast bowler? Dat aside , have u even achieved anything in life which is even 1 % of what sachin has done?
My fellow country men who spew venom on Sachin should go read the blogs in website of Dawn, a pak newspaper. These comments posted by pakistanis show how much respect they have for him.
Some say they prayed for him to reach 200 Some say they are delighted that sachin broke their beloved Sayeed's record rather than an aussie, kiwi or south african.
It seems Pak doesn't have even 1% of sachin haters that we have in India.
so called sachin, the god can never win a wcup. so called sachin, the god can never hit a six near century. so called sachin, the god can never captain a side successfully.(i m better captain than this moron) so called sachin, the god can never score a 300 in tests(he cant concentrate for long) so called sachin, the god can never win a match for his country when required.

Re: Re: sachin can never be by cricket virus on Feb 26, 2010 08:08 PM Inzamam’s total number of centuries in the test cricket is 25 of which 17 centuries have helped Pakistan to win tests and the winning percentage is 68.When the Australian skipper Ricky Ponting taking into account, from his 38 test centuries, 24 have converted to test match-winning knocks and the percentage amounts to 63.But Sachin Tendulkar scored 42 test centuries of which 16 have helped India in winning tests and the percentage amounts to only 38.
The most important comparison is the number of centuries in the second innings.Out of 6 centuries of Ricky Ponting, 5 have helped Australia in winning tests and the percentage is 83.Inzamam had 4 match-winning centuries out of 6 centuries. That is 66%.But Tendulkar have scored 10 centuries of which only 3 have helped India in winning matches and the percentage amounts only to 30

An excellent example of the misuse of percentages. Sachin's centuries have helped India win 16 matches. Inzaman's have helped Pakistan win 17 matches. So, Inzaman's centuries have helped Pakistan win one more Test match. The same applies to second innings centuries. The percentages are irrelevant here.
There is of course, the questionable assumption that the centurion had biggest impact on the match.

even if a batsman score 500 in a test innings, the team cannot win. test matches can only be won by bowlers. So, virus tell me the stats of australia win percentage when Ponting was scoring but Warne ,Mcgrath were not there. Tell me the percentage of Inzy hundreds when Wasim/Waqar/Saqlain/Mushtaq were not there.

Virus...before I run a "virus scan" and quarantine you.....how about thinking this way? Sachin Scored 70 centuries.....and the other 10 let him and the country down by not supporting his effort? lol, you cant coz thats not shown on stats....better learn now.....MORON! You need to do atleast 1% of what sachin did to call him with names

Sachin Tendulkar holds the world record jointly with W Hammond for scoring a six to get to a hundred the most times in the history of test cricket!
He has the best record of any cricketer at the WC and has the BEST record of any player in tournament finals (only Richards comes close).

Would sachin have cried if he was stranded on 199? (the same way he cried when dravid declared when he was on 194)

Hi Virus, I remember sachin hit a six when he was near a century against WI (test match) if courtney Walsh bowling. Its a hook shot.

Only, Waltain Hammond played perhaps 20% of test cricket that Sachin played.

1)World cup can be won by Indian team & not sachin 2)sachin has already hit six for century in past 3)Any captan is as good as his team. captain has no role in cricket win. Its just media hype. See how useless dhobi also wins when team is great. 4)he will score 300 in test very soon 5)Sachin has won maximum no of match for india. He has world record of MOM in ODI & player of tournament. So he has won more no of matches than any player in history of cricket. 95% of MOM resulted in india win. Also major contributor in all India test win along with dravid/laxman/kumble. Ur name justify ur mental IQ level & u should go to mental hospital at ranchi fo treatment very soon.

Re: sachin can never be..

Your statistics tells one side of the story. Have you checked the stat for each player about how many matches they scored a century with the percentage of their score to the team's total and yet lost? That should tell how these players stood against formidable attacks under hard pitch conditions while others around them crumbled. I'm sure Sachin will have the best statistics. You cannot blame Sachin for Indian team's lose.
Re: sachin can never be..

hmm so i guess sachin should be the only one sent to bat and hope he wins single handedly world cup for india rest of the team should just sit back and pray he does what a retardbloke u are man get a lifecrickvirus
yes obviously a legend but not the only one.. its not just about scoring runs & palying in home series.. its abt world cups, champions trophy too & we all know how Sachin fails in big matches.. there r many great players other than him.. its not that he is the only legend ever.. agree he scored a 200 but that doesnt mean it was the best one day innings ever..

u idiot, sachin has got same average at overseas also. Only other players are dravid/laxman. yes dhobi & his friends are capable only to score in home series.
Soth africa is a great team.. & hopefully u do ur best in the world cup next year.. dont worry about such games.. we all know how BCCI plays an important part in such series
Re: nothing to worry
by sandeep kumar on Feb 26, 2010 06:34 PM
Are you a SAF supporter? The indian team contains legends like Sachin and yuvraj and Dhoni and now u blame the BCCI!! They are chokers and the same will hapeen in WC 2011

am an indian dear frnd.. but we all know how much Dhoni & tendulkar score in big matches.. just look at 2007 world cup & the chapions trophy.. am only talkin abt the last 2 big tornaments
Re: Re: Re: nothing to worry

Ashish you are cynical person. People like you jump to critcize when India loses. When we win it is match fixing or BCCI playing a part. Still you want to atch all the matches that India is playing. Do you mean to say excpet for India all other countries have talent and win matches and we can win only when we fix matches? Try to cleanse your thoughts for once.
