Badrinath is old
by James Bond on Feb 25, 2010 08:34 PM  | Hide replies

Badrinath is 29 years old.... and he has been a big flop. He talks more than he plays, there are better players in this country who talk less

also he is in the team because of Srikanth, else he would have never made it to Indian team based on talent alone

Players dont talk all by themselves. Its the media that goes to the player for bytes. If the media is going to Badrinath, it means he is good enough to be selected. BIG FLOP? Where? he has played only two tests, and in one test, he scored a fighting 56 that saved India the embarassment. In domestic cricket, he has been a run machine (he has just scored another century yesterday). Stop being anti-South in your opinion.

He's a test specialist only!
by sandeep kumar on Feb 25, 2010 07:18 PM  | Hide replies

He dosent have too many strokes, just like a dravid. He dosent have sehwags cut, gangulys drive or Sachins sweep or Yuvis and shonis sixes. He's good at stealing 1s and 2's and a solid defence, so hope he is the test team middle order

It is the attitude that matters to be successful. Dravid is well suited for ODIs. In these featherbeds of subcontinent pitches people like Dhoni may outscore him. When there is even the slightest of bounce, lateral movement or swinging conditions, the need for right batting technique will become clear. He was also successful in both IPLs, far better than many youngsters and many people with too many strokes.

The justification given by Vengsarkar for omission of Dravid from ODIs was that it was for giving exposure to the batsmen of next generation.
