Hey Indians .... Are we happy just becoz Sachin has touched a landmark of 200 runs in ODI . If that is the reason we are happy n celebrating then its shallow happiness . As Landmarks , Milestones come and go . Just think for a moment that whalt makes Sachin (200*) different than Saeed Anwar(194) and CK Coventary (194*) . Believe me just making those 6 extra runs doesnt make him so special for which we are celebrating like mads . There is much more to it . The reason why i am stressing so much is becoz if we stress so much on his scores on every match and judge him , there will be a period when we will be hooting against him ( in his lean period) . The reasons that make him so special in my eyes 1) Humility , humbleness , down to earth attitude : makes him all the more lovable. I havent seen Sachin even once in his 442 ODI's going crazy , shouting , giving angry looks after sc0ring 100 . 2) Continuous Improvement & Learning : he is quick to realise if any chinks in his armoury and quickly gears himself to rectify the same . He himself never thinks himself to be a Master Cricketer as others love to call him . 3) Endless love & passion for the Cricket : it appears that he requires Food,Air,Water& Cricket to survive . 4) Sharing of thoughts & learnings : If u flip the history book and check out the lives of true greats , u will find one uniqueness , they all r eager and honest in helping a person whoever approaches with earnest .
When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam.
When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters.
The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will.
