Dhoni - The most matured player
by rangdebasanti on Feb 25, 2010 12:10 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni showed the world how matured he is. Observe the following points.

* By keeeping on slamming the bowlers, he literally took the attention away from Tendulkar

* He gave enough time to Tendulkar to cool down from his excitation, which he was

* By keeping the strike, he kept the score board rushing. In fact, it was easy for him to hit the bowlers, as their attention was on Tendulkar.

* If Tendulkar had scored the double earlier, he might have got out easily. But this way, he had remained not out.

* Last but not the least, Dhoni used the pressure in his mind to give chance to Tendulkar in the most constructive way by scoring (rather amassing) runs at a very very brisk rate.

Dhoni is indeed a very matured player.

RDB:
I noticed in your comments:
1. By slamming the bowlers he took their attention "away" from Tendulkar
3. ..It was easy for him to hit the bowlers as their attention "was" on Tendulkar

4. If Tendulkar had scored the double earlier, he would have got out..... How?

5. By scoring runs himself, Dhoni gave chance to Tendulkar....???

Dunno about Dhoni, but YOU are a very matured comment maker... ;-)

There was some controversy regarding some decisions in the first match which went favorably to India. So I guess the umpires decided to compensate today. I agree that it was poor umpiring.

Dhoni is a rare breed
by Injun Abhi on Feb 25, 2010 12:06 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni seems to be one of those rare breed who believes that the team's succcess supercedes personal milestones. Although people are asking for his head for not rotating the strike and giving Sachin the strike, methinks that it is refreshing to know that the Indian captain thought above and beyond personal miletsones and has instead gunned for a winning total. No to say that Sachin could not have hit sixes if given the4 strike, but why take a single when there is a six to be hit? Who knows what the next ball is going to be? Greats like Sachin and Sehwag have always maintained that if there is a ball to be hit, it must be hit .. so I am sure Sachin himself would be proud of what Dhoni did. Congrats to Sachin for scoring the first ever double-ton in ODIs but congrats to Dhoni for putting India above Sachin.

Why Dhoni played so cheap.. He did not allow Tendulkar to take strike for long. Dhoni scored single on last ball of almost every over to deprive Tendulkar the strike. Very poor on Dhoni's part and shame on Dhoni...Otherwise Tendulkar would have scored at least 225. Dhoni should have understood what country wants and name of Indian player Tendulkar in the history.

Putting Team above the rest? BS. Where was this concern when India was chasing 354 against Australia and Dhoni departed with his tail btw his legs. His all concern came when team's score was already above 380, right?

Don't talk nonsense.
dhobi is the most political & selfish player, india ever had who always play for records.
In last two series against SLK & Eng- he postponed declration to complete his century.

Dont post messages like this.Tendulkar dont have the stamina to strike the ball after 45 overs that is why took up from him and played a rocket innings.Sachin have himself avoided the single before the last ball of 50 th over as he was not able to play the hard hitting shot in the last ball.It was Dhoni who gave the strike to Sachin in last over even though there is a chance for 2 runs.Dont Do a work like pakistani

Your psot is a Non-issue....

However points to make out, what makes MS thinks that only he can hit sixes and not Sachin ? Afterall Sachin has been playing right from the begining compared to others who were crucial supports in the innings.

Another thing, Sachin took single to complete 200 and you think that you are a better person to know that the ball was to be hit for a SIX ?? How come MS had a dot ball then in that last over ?? Wasn't that was supposed to be hit for SIX as well ??

Dhoni was only trying to play for the team. He tried to get the score past 400. If he had given the strike to Sachin, there would be plenty of people here and elsewhere calling them selfish and playing for records etc. You cant win either way with Indian fans. There were still 3 balls left in the over and Sachin only had to get a single. So they knew what they were doing.
