Easily one of the most technically correct batsman of his era. Strangely enough, he made his debut in Tests as a medium pacer, and his batting blossomed gradually. He is the kind of man India needs as a manager. But the fad is to go for the imported.
He is not only a great player, but also a very good, humble and of-course a brave person. When he called selectors as bunch of jokers.... Jimmyji, yor are great......
Had he been a trembling cricketer who suffers in big event like world cup final, India would not have won the 1983 world cup. Amarnath can be known for his 'MAN OF THE MATCH OF WORLD CUP FINAL' effort for centuries.

Jimmy contributed heavily in 83 final and was/is one of the great stars of Indian cricket. But I remember it as Srikanth getting the man of the match for his 30 or 40 runs? in the eventually low scoring final.
