Come on guys!! India cannot be winning all the time. This is the first test Dhoni lost as a captain. The only mistake I think Srikkanth did was to include VVS in the probables when he was not fully fit. you have another guy becoming unfit just 15 minutes before the toss - so you end up having only 12 players at the time of toss - what do you do? obviously india did not have the best 11 going into this game - but then....I sincerely hope dravid, lakshman will take back there place. You cannot blame people like vijay, badri, saha etc., if the top order experienced batsment struggled in the first test - how do you expect youngsters to perform - be fair guys!!!

Difference between Australia and India
by Jay on Feb 12, 2010 12:36 AM  | Hide replies

The ONLY difference between the world beating Aussies and the newly temporary 'NO.1' Indian team is that the Aussies not only had great batsmen but also excellent bowlers, fielders, wicketkeep etc. Indian team is a one trick pony. They have a talented batting unit BUT lack world class bowlers. Perhaps only Zaheer Khan can be counted as an international class bowler. Ishant Sharma is better off doing shampoo ads and playing IPL. Bhajji can go back to punjab and open a bhajji stall. Amit Mishra is fit for playing gully cricket.

Bhajji and Mishra should be replaced by Piyush Chawla and Pragyan Ojha. I would also recommend bringing back Irfan Pathan. We need to give that guy a second shot at international cricket. Irfan is still a young man and with proper confidence level, he can bowl well again. We have all the diamonds YET we don't want to shine them.

F**K U BCCI !

Well said,Jay.
But Indians still think they can maintain the no.1 ranking got for the first time in history, just like that.Indians still think they can get over any obstacle with just batting strength.Indians are not interested in playing complete cricket which requires hard work and total dedication.
Here players are more interested in doing ads.Hence Indians will go on beating the srilankans, bangladeshis etc.,but not the giants of modern world cricket,ie.aussies and SA.

Smith don;t know the real facts
by sreenivasulu reddy on Feb 11, 2010 11:49 PM  | Hide replies

We have Tamil Batsman who can score very lowly. So SA pacers need to feel very happy about that. They can 3 tamil batting wickets very easily. What's else you want Smith?
My sincere advice to Smith: Please don't waste your time on strategies etc as we have tamil batsmen. Enjoy the trip and watch movies and relax.
Before going back to SA, tell media that these tamil batsmen have great potential. That way once india comes to your country, again you can beat india easily and no need to think too much on strategies

From your name it seems you are telugu. I thought the telegu people are friendly and broad minded of all Indians.. hmmm seems you are an exception. Shame on you for such nonsensical comments. India can be represented by any language speaking Indian.. be it tamil, punjabi, telegu, kannada, marathi, gujarati, bengali etc.. keep your dirty politics to yourself scum.

Reddy:

Looking at the score card of the first test match, it is indeed good to know that Dhoni, Gambhir, Vijay, Saha and Tendulkar belonged to Tamil Nadu in the first innings, and Gambhir, Sehwag and Badri belonged to Tamil Nadu in the second innings.... :)

No wonder Smith doesn't have to worry about strategy, when he is being advised by a human Atlas who is an expert on Indian geography.... :)
Its another matter that the Human Atlas doesn't know much about cricket... but that's okay... :)

VVS is back. VVS, Sehwag and Sachin will score tons and lead India to a huge victory. India will retain number one ranking by trouncing South Africans at Eden.

With two tons in the first innings, we managed an innings defeat.
With three tons in the second test, we will probably avoid an innings defeat....
I like your way of thinking... :)

batsmen Team
by Pradeep Bhatnagar on Feb 11, 2010 06:09 PM

Guys the matter of truth is that Indian team is a batsmen team, till the point team has been scoring 500 the bowlers have looked good as this kind of total creates mental pressure on the best sides. Unfortunately this match we scored below 300 and since we never had fast bowlers (ever since india started playing cricket) who could bowl 140 kph consistently, we lost the game.

Fast Tracks
by HS RANA on Feb 11, 2010 05:52 PM

BCCI must take some concrete steps to survive and to improve its fast bowling attack. For this it should prepare fast track only in India to prepare fast bowlers of the International level. What are the problems to have fast track in India? Are we in this also do the politics same as Parliamenatary politics?

Smith should talk less - one match is not a trend
by Talisman on Feb 11, 2010 12:30 PM  | Hide replies

Steyn was lucky that the scrambled seam ball hit the stumps and took Vijay out and then took Sachin in the first innings. HE bolwed well. But to claim that this is the ultimate bowling or that we are not worried about flat wickets is a tad foolish!

HE must remember that due to foolish selection policies of the indian selection team including the poor selection thought process of Dhoni and the coach, india ended up with a bunch of newbies in their lineup.

If Steyn could break the defenses of Dravid, Lakshman and Sachin and Sewag on a flatish wicket, then Smith can talk. Perhaps, he is going to regret this.

Talisman,

In reading your views I differ with you regarding Steyn being lucky. Actually India was lucky that we were not bundled out for 150-200 in 2 nd innings as sachin was lucky at nought not being lbw to Steyn on third day evening. On the fourth day he survived another lbw in the first over and a caught and bowled chance against Steyn again and he was dropped by Kallis at 45. Sachin was all at sea against Steyn on 4th day morning and lucky he got to make century and bring the score to 300 in the second innings.

Agree that breaking defenses of Dravid, Lakshman,Sachin and Sewag would be difficult for Steyn(or any bowlers) anywhr around the world. But he has delivered when it mattered most. Smith can't say anythng on BCCI selectors. 'n he's hailing his ace bowler here ... that's it............. he's gettin wat he deserves .. he's no.1 test bowler 'n ran thru a world no.1 side's batting line-up ..
even if he fails to deliver next time ... who'll deliver for India???..
