can ind declare innings like smith did?
by vinay on Feb 11, 2010 11:57 PM

whatever the result of the first test match, one thing that needed to b appreciated of sa captain was that
smith declared their innings at 558/6.

i wud like to ask one simple question, CAN ANY IND CAPT DARE TO DECLARE the innings closed at 550 runs? no way. whether its dhoni, kumble, sachin, or even ganguly. they wudnt hv dared to declare even after crossing 600 but probably only after scoring 650 or 700 runs. that also with the fear that they dont hv to bat again in second innings.

i wud appreciate smith for his very good declaration.

fool selectors

selectors shud have tried BADRINATH and MANISH PANDEY in the recently held India-Bangladesh Test series, but all the fools working as the selectors preferred to go with DRAVID, LAXMAN, SACHIN & YUVRAJ. Within next 1 & half years, sachin, dravid and laxman will retire & then India hav to include 3 new batsmen in the middle order.

There are rumors that BADRINATH shud b dropped in place of KARTHIK or RAINA. It is totally injustice to drop a player who has scored half century in his debut inning and that too against bowlers like STEYN and MORKEL. he sshud be given atleast 3 or 4 more test inning to prove himself.

KARTHIK already has got lot of chances in the test team but he failed to prove himself. he is a very good batsman but he is more suited for ODIs rather than Test cricket.

Selectors have given around 10 chances each to RAINA and KOHLI in ODIs, but they have dropped ABHISHEK NAYAR without giving him any chance. NAYAR shud play in ODIs. he is a true match winner who an counter attack any bowler in the world. recently he has scored a century against STEYN, MORKEL and PARNELL. You need matchwinners to win the matches, JADEJA is not a match winner. U cant rely on JADEJA when India need 40 runs from 24 balls. JADEJA is playing as an all-rounder in the team but whenever yuvraj and jadeja have played together YUVRAJ bowled more number of balls than jadeja and his economy rate is high as compared to YUVI (YUVI has taken more wickets than jadeja whenever they played together)

Selectors are real Jokers. Their decisions are weird to say the least. Mithun is the fastest man in India. They selected and dumped him without playing a single match. Saha is a better wicketkeeper than Dhoni or Karthik. They played him as a Specialist batsman and then dumped! Karthik may be a tiger in domestic. But his last 14 test Innings shows his qualty as a test batsman: 8,9,1,1,28,24,52,9,0,7,20,6,0,27

Forget about his atrocious wicketkeeping!Does he deserve another chance? It will be a mockery of selection if in the next test Karthik plays as a specialist batsman, and either Vijay or Badri is dropped

LAXMAN, DRAVID,KKUMLE& GANGULY WERE GRET
by ajeesh mathew on Feb 11, 2010 10:45 AM

Selectors needs 2 find out replacement 4 fab Four before it is too late !!! it is tough to think about a test match without Dravid or Laxman& the reason for that thought is came to lime light in the last test match. Sachin, Dravid and laxman r in the verge of retirement. Two years down the line of sure some yongsters has to step into their shoes . We are yet to get a replacement for Anil Kumble . Amit Mishra is not lived up to the expectations .

Hence it is the right time to think about transmition ...

Without doubt we can say laxman, dravid, ganguly and Kumble were exemptional talents & thats y they have sustained in international cricket for more than decades

If at all Indian team want to move forward than selectors shld sack Dhoni as captain. He has not proved himself as test player. To me Karthik is better wk-batsman when it comes to tests. it would be appropite to meke sehwag as captain, removing dhoni frm test team. while i think dhoni is good in ODIs.

Katrthik's keeping is atrocious of late. His test scores in last few tests: 8,9,1,1,28,24,52,9,0,7,20,6,0,27

its unfortunate to loose but you cant win without dedication and application. murali, saha , harbajan were all among the list for the loss, and you cannot blame gambhir . dravid and laxman have prooved that they are the best in the game and its unfortunate that india has not recieved any replacement for the masters like sachin dravid and laxman

Why do you blame Murali and Saha without any hesitation whereas Gambhir fetches a "you cannot blame" label? ;)

'cause u can't expect Gambhir to score century in every match. its been a while since Bhajji has demolished a reputed side. Bhajji needs some desperate rest, so he shld be dropped. While Saha the poor chap shldn't been in the original squad; Karthik is much better choice. Infact in tests Karthik shld replace Dhoni in team. Murali Vijay shld be given some time to settle down.

Oh... so you should expect debutants to score and lay the blame on their doorstep... :)

Boss, if not a century, how about expecting some "resistance" from Gambhir at the very least? :)

Can do? :)

He will learn
by CG GANG on Feb 11, 2010 09:35 AM

When you Lose you tend to learn more. Afterall arent failures stepping stones for success. Captain is as good as his team, remember Sachin as a captain he went SA, Aus, WI (plus match fixing)there was immense pressure, Dhoni has not seen all that but he has people with him like Dravid, Lax, Tendulkar who have seen it all, so India definitely Bounce Back. Hopefully our spinners learn a lot from this defeat.

I thought he was fixing deals to "lose" matches.... but you are telling us that he was fixing matches.... :)

So the opposition was being paid to lose, eh? :)

In which case instead of Azharuddin, the opposition captains should have been in the "match fixing" dock.... innit? :)
