Shahid Afridi has accepted in 2006 that he has regularly tampered with the ball to get wickets. Also, given the complete blatant way he was "biting" the ball (!!) it seems that the only way he knows how to play is to cheat to win.
To add insult to cricket loving public all over the globe, he mentions that he was smelling and tasting the ball !! What utter stupidity.
I think the ICC has been VERY lenient in his case, and both Afridi and PCB must just keep quiet apologize. Simply trying to defend this malpractice by saying "everyone does it" is just amateurish and highly unprofessional. Especially given the fact that Afridi was the captain of the side while doing this blatantly dastardly act.
ICC should evaluate this case more deeper, and add severe punishment, including a life ban to Afridi for wilfully causing severe disrepute to the gentlemanly game, by this shocking behavior.

I have already echoed this view at 3.40 pm. in the messages column. We must unite on these kind of happenings and stand up aginst injustice.
IMO, it's to win the match he's captaining. And why's that, he has been vying for the captaincy for a long time now and in loggerheads with Younis. He just wanted to prove that Pak lost 4 matches in a row under a different captain and won the last match just because of his captaincy. So he was desperate to win, even if it means soaking in mud or even dirty things. This guy is no just mean but meanest than the politicians.

This is a vry common justification for all wrong doing .In real life I find today in India people talk of corruption and cheating as a very common thing . You bribe people and say that every one does it . Just because alot of people do - it does not make it right .Like eating pan and spitting - an animal drops where ever it is .so too people who eat pan and spit only differance is animal does it from anus and these people from their mouth.so finally the mouth of these people is same as the anus of animals.
