one series so called bodyline when he was attacked Don's avarage was down to 57.
consider sunny who played fastest bowlers from five countries, wi, aus, eng, nz and pak in history of game with helmet. wi always bouncing thrice in over. thompson making cross mark on chetan chauhans forehead when he hit him for four. time sunny and sachin played bowlers were most hostile. Don time they would appreciate after being hit for four. judge urself

playing against one nation again, again, and again, with same grounds does not make anyone great. Averages are meaningless, only proves the opposition.

Its like holding a world cup with just two nations. Will that have any meaning???

JD:

Not true. If your statement is correct then there should have been at least 3 or 4 Sir Don Bradmans.... and an equal number from England side too... :)
Agree? :)
BTW, a World Cup with just 8 nations is fine for you?
Don't want a FIFA style 150 nation World Cup to make India's performance mean anything? :)

Check the opponents, and check under how much expectation Don played and under how much Sachin is playing.

People who talk about Don also know that it is a hype. He was a good batsman of his times - agreed, but then so was W.G.Grace.

The kind of pressure Sachin carries now is more than what the Don had to deal with, and also the number of quality opponents (Eng and Aus were the only serious cricket playing nations - the rest all were what Ireland and Scotland are today).

If there is somebody whose centuries actually value more than Sachin's, it shud be Sunny, who had to play against the most vicious fast bowlers ever played in cricket - Thomson, Lillee, the Windies, Botham, Willis etc.

So huu haa australia aaya australia.
