Pretence!
by vikas bhardwaj on Dec 31, 2010 01:36 PM  | Hide replies

People hated Aussies not because of their behaviour but their dominance . If sledging was because they were hated for , then it would be hypocritical to think that Indians , English , Pakis or for that matter others do no know how to sledge . In India , a 10 year old knows how to give a mouthful . So , this became a reason for loss , while the real reason was lack of ability to counter Aussie dominance

Nobody hates them for their (old) dominance nor is it for their sledging. It's just that they were plain abrasive, disrespectful and uncouth with their behavior, which they also persistently carried even off the field. It partly has to go with their culture(or lack of it).And then when somebody gave it back(ex India in India,England in 2005) they cried like sissies.Ricky Ponting even complained about England's choice fo substitute fielders during the 2005 series. That's how they showed themselves to be sore losers and unsportsmanlike in their conduct. No wonder the whole cricketing world is rubbing it in now and paying them back in the same coin..and how it hurts now!!.It also didn't help that they tweaked and manipulated the laws of the game when they were on top and had a knack of gettign marginal decisions in their favor at critical situations in the game. Now the shoe is on the other foot.Deal with it,sissies.Nobody's afraid of you anymore. So stop babbling like a child who's candy has been taken away.

The Aussies are basically 'Stowaways' from england. They were basically criminals or of criminal origin who were dumped as far away as possible from the English shores. In effect, they are englishmen and their kith. This explains why they are always looking for trouble by Bad mouthing, uncouth behaviour, demeaning on other countries, disrespectful in the face of peace and happiness. It is said that when they run out of outsiders for a fight they fight amongst themselves like dogs.

Cricket - Australia & England
by Palmas Palmas on Dec 31, 2010 01:09 PM  | Hide replies

Sadly, lot of comments contain anger, expletives, foul-language... The bottomline is, Ponting & team under him were always very arrogant. (What does McGrath has to say now about his pre-series prediction of 5-0 result in favour of Australia?). I am reminded of extremely arrogant & insulting comments by Ponting about New Zealand cricket at a post-match presentation ceremony some time back after Australia trounced them. Absolutely unbecoming of a true champion.

Some Australia groupies here confuse 'arrogance' with 'confidence'.They claim that the abrasive and plain rude behavior of the Aussies was 'supreme confidence'.What they fail to understand is that you can be plain ruthless on the field and still be well behaved. The all conquering team of Clive Lloyd was fearsome and menacing but they never cheated or indulged in abrasive behavior.Roger Federer was invincible and now so is Rafa Nadal(waay more dominant than even the Aussies at their peak) but they set examples with their behavior.Anyway, part of the reason the whole cricketing world is rejoicing the downfall of Australia and Ponting lies in their behavior while at the top.WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!GOOD RIDDANCE PONTING!!!

Very true. I remember in 1960s & 1970s, we used to support Australia when they were playing any team other than India's. I also recall the terrific respect & honour given to Frank Worrel & his team by even the Australian team as well as common Australian public after West Indies team's tour Down Under in 1962. Why sports can not be uplifting once again?

try to dictate terms....creating differences within the team....not working with "coach"...try to do a "ganguly" kind of thing within a team... working against coach...all these things were not acceptable for english board...they did a sensible thing.....kicked him out immediately out of captainship...
now look at the performance of this "strauss" lead england team....true no.1 test cricket team in the world....purely on performance...that's captainship...

Didn't India beat England in England in the last series?

Since 1998, overall, India beat australia more than australia beat india (11 vs 10) - only team to challenge when aussies were at their best.

And India also beat WI, but I guess Eng beating a weak Aussie side is OK for you, but not if India beat WI in WI :). Double standards...

And at the time of writing this, India also beat SA in SA.

stupid idiot..!!!!
watch world cricket....played on "sportive pitches" with pace bounce n swing....
not "flat pitch bullies" shows on substandard " mud tracks" of subcontinent dead and burried "bowlers grave yards"...
have proper knowledge abt "test cricket".....pitch conditions, quality of opposition bowling....ENG is the only team which played out of their comfort zone ....played against "world class PAK pace attack on testing english pitch conditions...won the series, battled hard against SA under tough pitch conditions at home and abroad....level the series....they improved b'cause they never played on "mud tracks"..!!!!
by the way on how many "spotive pitches" team india played over the past 2 years..???
can u remember...???
dont be a stupid idiot..!!
watch world cricket...appreciate "true performers"....

Ponting learn from Pietersen
by Against Psuedos on Dec 31, 2010 11:45 AM  | Hide replies

Compare Pietersens actions with that of Ricky Ponting and you know why England are on top and the Aussies in the doldrums.Ricky is still hanging on like a handicapped soldier surrounded by the enemy.Cry me a river Ricky Ponting. Are you still wondering why nobody gives a damn about the copping you are recieving from the crowds, the opposition and your own media?Cos you forgot the adage 'Be good to people on your way up cos they are the same ppl you will meet on your way down'.You should have smelt the coffee when you needed Bucknor to help you draw two home series against India and then got walloped by India at home. But your arrogance went to your head and you carried on and on,heaping more defeats on your nation culminating in this disaster.3 Ashes lost,no wins against India in India...these are the legacies you will carry into retirement. And nobody cares!!

As I repeatedly told you, please correct the spelling of your name.. :)

BTW, even Dhoni needs Davis and Rauf, as per your own logic... isn't it? :)

Namesake-the point was that without Bucknor we would have had 2 wins in Oz.Not that all Australian wins are attributed to biased umpiring. In your overenthusiasm to defend a dying aura, you missed it again..but then what's new?Now wipe the drool off your keyboard and get a life. It's fun rubbing salt into your wounds(which you keep festering with your penchant to make a fool of yourself on the Rediff boards)
