Captain Dhoni continues to conquer
by venkateswaran venkateswaran on Dec 31, 2010 05:16 PM  | Hide replies

While I appreciate Dhoni as a successful captain, there are still voids to be filled like winning in Australia,England, series win in SA, Australia & England. After achieving these I will accept him as an all conquering captain

dont lie venkat, of course even after dhoni does this you are not going to accept him as an all conquering captain.

you are still going to say that it is fluke or the teams were weak or played below strength.

also there are a few more reasons you will give for not accepting him as an all conquering captain. you will say that it was because of umpire bad decisions or match fixing or bcci power.

Dhoni one of world's best
by Naalayak Chhokra on Dec 31, 2010 09:45 AM

Just 3 captains have better record than him(Bradman, Steve Waugh and Ponting). That goes really great in defining his skills.

Go India!!

Dhoni's captaioncy has transformed this team
by Sasanka Mahapatra on Dec 31, 2010 07:43 AM  | Hide replies

Lot of credit should go to Mahi with the way he has totally transformed the Indian team from a depths of despair to the world beaters. We always had a good batting line up, and an off-on bowling lineup. He has made the difference by turning this team around from a team filled with self doubt to a confident team, capable of beating the best in the world.

It is surprising that there are still some people around who think Dhoni is a "lucky" captain! He has shown that he gets luck his way more often than not, by sheer hard work and vision.

Hats off, Mahi! carry on the good work.

This is the greatest batting line up ever
by Gurjot Singh on Dec 31, 2010 05:03 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni has the greatest batting line up ever assembled in the history of cricket. Indian bowling line up is among the best in the world. Indian bowling is definitely better than SA as demonstrated in Durban. Indian would have easily whitewashed SA if India had won the toss in the first test.
England bowling is overrated. They can never beat India. England's bowlers can never take 20 wickets in test against India. Just look at the trouble they had against a third class opener like tami ekbal of BD in both BD and England. India will be the top team for many may decades.

I don't think so - we have always had good batting line ups, he has really transformed the team from a pack of losers to big time winners! Let us not denigrate his contributions to the make up of the team of winners...as all the members of the team have contributed.

You need to take 20 wickets to win. We never had such kind of bowling. Apart from Kapil Dev, in the last 25 years we never had a match winning bowler outside India.

Kumble needed placid and under prepared wickets for any wickets.

Now we have match winners like Zaheer, Ishant etc. Thats why we are winning.

Not to take any credit away from Dhoni, he is a very capable leader and also luck favours him.

Captain also matters, you can see Dhoni broght us the T20 world cup and if thats not enough, as a Captain he is super successful in IPL too. played all Semi's, played two Finals and won one and Won the Champions League also. How else do you measure a captain!

U measure his ability by winning in australia, england & SA. Has he done that so far? If test cricket gives more money than IPL, then may be he will become more successfull captain

Chill out:

Well said...
I pick Murali Vijay in the Durban test... He didn't bother to score 96 to create personal records, but made a selfless single digit score, which resulted in India's win... :)
