Usman ? who is this man ?
by Jay on Dec 31, 2010 05:00 AM

Before I begin my Paki-bashing I would like to congratulate team Australia on accommodating a young, talented and 'sure-to-fail' player in Usman Kawaja. After all England, Australia etc are the ideal dumping ground for players from failed nations and quota systems - hint, hint.

For those of u crazy about brown skin and Desi vigor, Usman may be good news.. but if he becomes successful as an Aussie international, then look out for the extinction of team Pakistan in just about a decade.

PS: MASS migration of Pakis to Australia for cricketing future.

Last country

Australia is the last country accommodating a sub continent player. For all other countries have already played viz England, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe. Canada and United States team contains more than half of Sub continent players.

Did India ever accomodated a white or non subcontinent origin player in team? Leave alone that how many Dalits have represented Indian Cricket Team in the past?
C'mon man Australia is a western country not a third world votebank like India where you get selected due to your caste,
creed, economic prowess and influence etc.
Disappointed to see such comments in rediff forum

what are you talking about? Mohd Azaruddin, bishan bedi, eknath solkar, abid ali, salim durrani, saeed kirmani, yusuf and irfan pathan, zaheer khan, harbhajan - were all either minorities or dalits. How many Hindus have ever played in your favorite Pakistan team? Its easy to preach liberal principals to developed nations like India, US or Australia. What about preaching them to stone aged countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh ?

Rightwing Indian:

You clearly have no answer to Narayanan's opening question, so you jump straight at the second question which he has merely asked you to quote a number; which by the sounds of it IS actually a handful of Dalits...

But nice that you introduced Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh etc. into the discussion.

With your permission, can I start debating with you about Iceland, Poland, and the Andes range in South America too? ;-)

Adding to that Australia and Canada are 2 most fast growing developed nations in world now.

Look at the FX rate against USD, Aus and Canada have always been dream for immigrants from Asia, its not 2nd generation migrants who start the game (i didn't mean cricket alone)

Krishnan:

What is your point?

BTW, Khwaja is an Australian, whose dream it was right since childhood, to represent Australia in cricket... Any objections to that?

Your statement is a collection of confused contradictions and self-achieved conclusions... ;)

Maybe the Aussies DON'T look down n taunt non white players, is the solution to your problem? ;-)

Hopefully he will do well. He is the first muslim to play for Australia. Why is he making a big deal out of his religion? Is he the first player from the Indian subcontinent (ethnically) to play for Australia?
