This is the real test- it's no fool's paradise!
by sumie beg on Dec 31, 2010 02:44 PM

It's not sad- it's a matter of arrogance. No offense, but Mr. Ponting is the worst captains of the world. He used ex-players like McGrath, Warne and Gilchrist to make his name in fame. He argues with every captain, even Warne! Even a new captain will find it difficult to fill the void where you have a new team of kangaroos!

its clear, being over confident and over ambitious have landed him in no mans land. he hurried steve waughs retirement in a craze to take over as captain. next was his claim to have every other record in his name. he does not have the grace and elegance of being a good sportsman. he is shrewd and sly. sometimes you can be but not always. he has reached his doom because of his own foolishness. he knows theres no future for him as his own country men fellow cricket commentators are after his blood.

He was once in par with Sachin's centuries: RP's 39 vs.ST's 43! He did it quietly with ex-players like McGrath, Warne and Gilchrist to make his name in fame. Now he argues with every captain-even Warne-and then the public expects Warne for a total recall! The losers-sheesh!

I believe he is the selector of Cricket Australia. He is not blaming their senior players at all for the loss. When he was in India, use to blame our senior players almost in every interview. So mean these Ausies are....

Boss, even if the series is drawn 2-2, England gets to retain the Ashes as per the Ashes logic. Same has been mentioned in the article.

Ponting is GOD,Sachin is useless
by Against Psuedos on Dec 29, 2010 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

Whatever Ponting does is right.I,though Indian, aleways want Aussies to win even against India.Thats bcos I am an illegal immigrant in Australia working at McDonalds in Flinders Park,Melbourne.I live in a shanty sharing 2 rooms with 9 other illegals. But I live in eternal hope that one day I will get a legal visa and then PR in this amazing country.Maybe if I bad mouth my own country and flatter the whites it may come true.Sachin only plays for himself and his records and never contrinutes to win but Punter always plays for win and doesnt care for records otherwise he would have scored 100 centuries by now.

My namesake:

First correct the spelling of your name... :)

Too bad that you are living illegally in Australia. I suggest you apply for a Permanent Residence through proper channels and live with your head held high rather than adopting a self-pitying position just to try to show someone else (i.e. me) in poor light... :)

Punter is a Legend of the Game - Take it or not
by Vaibhaw on Dec 29, 2010 01:40 PM  | Hide replies

Punter has been a team man always and created huge impact when it was needed the most , something that So called Master hasnt incorporated throughout his career. He seem to be the first one to be back in the pavilion wheen needed the most . In those situation it is the like of Laxman and Dravid , and Yuvi in ODIs have been doing the job .

Tough times come in illustrious careers spanning 15-20 years . Just before the ashes Punter nearly scored 3 centuries in India ( 3 75 scores) . Captaincy took toll on him severely - Its time he quit his captaincy and concentrate on making big centuries as he has been doing over last so many years

There is no doubt that Ricky Ponting is one of the game's legends, but he is past his prime. He looks a pale shadow of his former self who in his prime evoked fear.

He should quit captaincy and focus on his batting. This would work as he can focus single minded concentrate on his batting and rediscover his golden touch.

Vinay:

Go to youtube, search for "The spirit of India", and enjoy Dhoni's bump catch which he himself claimed....
in front of cameras too.. :)
There are some other spirit of the game moments like Bhajji refusing to walk after being clean bowled etc...
Hope that sets some of the "whole world is against us" thought processes in the right direction... ;-)

Vaibhav:

Australia needed Punter the MOST in THIS Ashes series.... Kindly show me WHAT did he do????

As for Sachin - if he is the first one to be back in the pavilion, I suggest he couldn't have made even one century and probably a total of 2000 runs by now.... Agree? :)

There goes the criticism about the "master". Of course this would never end and we all including the master will live with these criticisms.

Mr. Vaibhaw, the "so called master" played close to 600 internationals for India in long and short formats. You expect him to save the team every time he goes in to bat? Why do we have other members in the team?

By the way, who brought India close to avoiding innings defeat at Centurion?

Now don't argue that he played to get his 50th ton.

If you feel tough times come infor Ponting as his career spans over 15 years, how about Sachin, the "so called master"?.

Why did Ponting not relinquish captaincy and concentrate on his batting (no doubt he is a great batsman, and it stops there. Not a good sportsman, not a good captain) like the "so called master"?
