Excellent performance by Sreesanth. He has to control his emotions and then he will be a world class bowler. He has the pace and determination, just has to keep his calm.

Yes,many batsmen played some great shots in this series. However, the ball that got Kallis stands out as the ball of the series so far.

Yap and also Sreesant took the 3 most crucial wicket of in SF line of Smith/Amla/Kallis, thats surely changed the games direction
ALL RUNDER LIKE ZAHEER KHAN HAS HELPED TO INDIAN TEAM IN GIVING VICTORY AGAINST SOUTH AFRIC AD ACCORDING TO ME HE IS THE BEST PACE BOLWLER WHO HAS IMPROVED FROM GETTING SELECTED FROM WORLD 11 AGAINST AUSTRALIA IN 1996 SINCE THEN HE HAS SHINED LIKE ANY WAY CONGRATS FOR HIS GRESAT SUCCESS SATISHPATWARDHAN

What happen in first test match bondhu ? Pliz try to speak the truth sometimes. Where Zaheer, Where Sresanth.

@raj - U r missing the point, Zaheer does well and even if he doesn't he inspires other Junior ballers to perform, Steyn may have pace surely but doesn't have the ability to inspire , As for u somethingh seem odd
VVS produced many gems especially in a II innings of a test match. I see some fanatics praise sachin too much at this hour. Its very silly. Its better to leave sachin alone.
Sachin is a rare gem alright. He is a mere human. Thats why he cannot produce innings in II innings like Dravid or VVS. Scoring 96 in a pressure cooker situation and helping winning the match is more than scoring 100 100s.

VVS is a mere human too... that's why he scores only in matches where there is a realistic chance of winning... Never in matches like Centurion, which was definitely as much pressure cooker as Durban if not more...

Ridiculous. Cricket is a team game, even sachin knows that. Fanatics like you try to praise him too much, expect too much from him. He is mere human, thats why he still cannot produce an innings like VVS so far. So give him a break.

If Viv Richards, Akram, Boycott, Miandad, Botham, Kapil, Gavaskar, Hayden, Ponting, Warne, Gilchrist, Laxman, Dravid, Lara etc. etc. are fanatics, I'd rather join that club than coming over to yours... :)

None of them say that Sachin is bigger than the game. BTW, we always see Lara praising Sachin. But never heard Sachin praise Lara. That speaks volumes about Lara's humility. We all know Lara is a modern day great in batting.
Zaheer helped. Cmon, he is the cause of the downfall lot of talented bowlers like Irfan,Balaji,Nehra, now sreeshant, ishant.
Basically, the management gave Zaheer to take care of the bowlers as a result they lost their wicket taking pace, line and lengths etc. Also, its proven over the years including recent New Zealand searies that whenever Zaheer is not in dressing room or not playing, Sreeshant,Ishant excelled like anything.
Look at the statement made by Dhoni below in of the cricinfo articles. This statement is huge worry for us as the future of sreeshant, ishant etc are in zaheer hands.
"He doesn't panic in tough situations, and he convinces bowlers about the fields they should set and the lines and lengths they should bowl."
So, its Zaheer is not involved in other pace bowlers growth and we can see old good sreeshant, ishant back in wicket taking ways.

by Jatin on Dec 30, 2010 06:57 AM
Dude.... being an experience bowler he can definitely suggest fields, but then it is up to the bowlers if they agree.. going by your statement if everyone should be allowed to do what they want then why the need of Coach/Captain and experience player in the team... To be honest Sreesanth is a waste bowler... Have always got Wickets by sheer luck... He neither a good bowler nor a sportsman *seeing his on field behavior". Ishant lost all his pace because of injuries,,, So what can Zaheer do in that...

Zahhe is a gem. You can't blame Zaheer for others failure. Statistics speakes fro zahher. India can't win without Zheer
Laxman is the real hero, who has always performed for the sake of team, unlike SRT who has mostly performed for his own records. If anybody deserves the highest award, it is VVS & not SRT.

we know VVS is a mere human. So is sachin. So are the others. No one can be called "God of Indian cricket" or whatever.

Idiot Iyer..Team Ind won but u still can not stop writing abt SRT. Instead of praising VVS and all team members (almost everyone chipped IN) u still ranting abt SRT..and Thats power of SRT..And SO SRT is GOD of cricket...and guess wht YOU r making it happen easy every time u write abt it...
Re: Re: VVS - THE UNSUNG HERO
by Shankar on Dec 30, 2010 02:57 AM
the fact is when Sachin performs..nobody supports him. its just a one man show. You must undertand that this match was won by bowlers effort as well.
Re: Re: Re: VVS - THE UNSUNG HERO
by Ravi Iyer on Dec 30, 2010 08:36 AM
without bowlers taking 20 wkts, no team can win test matches. Do you mean to say no one in the team wants to support Sachin? I don't think so.
Re: Re: Re: Re: VVS - THE UNSUNG HERO
by C M on Dec 30, 2010 09:28 AM
Now u making soem sense..when u say witout bowlers taking 20 wkts etc..The fact is its a tem efort. Team wins or fails as a unit..Of course not all have equal share at all times but as a unit they all r responsible...VVS innings is great and so does team effort in this test. SRT century is great innings but not team effort in last test So Ind lost...

Ravi Iyer:
You are 100% correct. But at the same time Shankar is right too in observing that most of the times it has happened that VVS is supported quite well by the tail, whereas Sachin is not...
India is by far the best team in cricket. This Indian triumph clearly demonstrates that India lost the first test because of the coin toss. It would have been 2-0 in India's favor if the coin dropped the other way. This indian team is greatest ever assembled in the history of the game. The batting line up is light years ahead of the competition. Inidan bowling is among the best in the world. SA and England are good but India is much better when ZK is healthy.
