what goes up has to come down. Ricky's time is up. he was on top with top players on his team. now he cannot sail this ship longer. Aussies as come one said had all going on for them b'coz of their mean attitude. now those mean guys are retired and theres no showing on the points tally to show the attitude. they are joining the West indies now. they should tour zimbabwe, kenya, dutch, canada to regain some pride..booooooooo

everyone has their time....but u cannot deny that the domination they had in the last 10-15 yers was one which has not probably been seen before....i still think that they are a much better odi team than a test team....and if any, they still will be a serious contendor for the world cup...ot to forget

Ponting has been one of the worst Austrailian captain. He was succesful bcoz of the team. Other aussie captains were sucessful bcoz of their leadership skills. With Mcgrath, Warne, Gilchrist having retd Ponting's captaincy had to come down!!!

A captain can be as good as his team. If the team is good, then he can be good. Ponting cannot be blamed as he has a weak team under him now. Even batting has gone down, earlier that was good and now that is also in the same boat as their bowling.

Warnie, Gilly, McGrath were all match winners and once in a lifetime players. Now all gone and their replacements are nowhere as good as them.

Amit Karnani:

Going by your definition of "worst captains", even Dhoni can stake a claim; considering that he too is successful becoz of the team... nay?

Amit is saying "Ponting has been one of the worst Austrailian captain". Essentially he is comparing Ponting to past Australian captains and not to captains of other test playing nations. So there is no question of bringing Tendulkar here. Of Course, Sachin was one of the worst 'captains' for India, but the fact remains he is the best batsman

Solid Answer Kamal...also, neither did Sachin nor Dravid, Kumble or Sehwag claimed catches that had been grassed...Ponting lacks honesty and sportsman spirit...he is a selfish guy and a Crook...

NP:

Hmmmm... But Dhoni did claim a grassed catch, and so did Andrew Strauss....
So they too belong to the "abysmal captains" club invented by you?
;-)
