Biggest Joke of 2010 ...
by bango tango on Dec 24, 2010 12:56 PM  | Hide replies

ToI is condusting a poll to vote 4 the World's Greatest Sports Personality ....the list includes 12 names...

The biggest joke is the list misses the names as Sergei BUbka,Wayne Gretzki,Yelena Isniabayeva, Lin Dan , Micheal Phelps..
..
The bigger joke is between Sachin and Dhyan Chand, there are 81% votes. This shows how ridiculous this poll is. Only 19% amongst Federer, Pele, Ali, Carl Lewis and the rest of the non-Indian nominees. LOL. This is a poll with a lot of credibility.

One more thing, you can vote as many times as possible...so schin fans will be doing this till ToI closes this polling...

A few sportspersons like Federer, Johnson, Pele etc. are included in the list. I am not sure whether it is going to the world audience or confined only to India. Cricket is not known to 95% of the countries in the world. It is an 8-nation game. India is cricket crazy and we are obsessed with the game and Tendulkar's achievements. Naturally, all Indians will vote for him and he will win hands down. But is it a true reflection of real greatness? After all, most of the others in the list of TOI ( I do not remember the complete list) have played or are playing global games unlike cricket which is confined to just 8 countries. So, how far it is correct to even conduct such a poll? In our own country, even the achievements of the likes of Bindra (Olympic gold), Vishwanathan Anand (multiple world championship played by many more countries than cricket) will definitely rank higher. However, as everything is media driven and popularity driven, you have to perhaps bow to that and say, `Tendulkar is the greatest ever sportsman', even if you are not convinced of the same!

We should prepare good spin tracks when SA visits, and not pitches that suit them. No idea why some jack azzes think playing spin is inferior to playing pace.

What a great piece of contradictory language

"...But we are expecting more rain till the start of the match, and I am hoping for more such sunny days..."

Not exactly contradictory, but could have been much much simpler and clearer.

Tendulkar please retire.

Whatever it is ,fed up with same names, especially Tendulkar,Dravid. Hope Tendulkar is severely injured while playing in Durban. and misses cricket for atleast 2 years. This is the only way of getting rid of this player playing forever.

Very well said.... your thoughts would no doubt be echoed by every single bowler across the world.... :)
They too would be hoping for Sachin to get injured becoz that's the ONLY way they can get rid of this master stroke player... :)

@Ratan. Well said. It is high time he retires. We are all tired of his non-contribution to the team.

Try with umesh jadhav
by Natarajan on Dec 23, 2010 11:47 PM

Why Umesh Jadhav was not given chance in first Test with South Africa? His bowling is perfect in IPL with lot of bouncers which are bowled upto the height of batman's shoulder and his bowling speed is also good. If he was included in team there may have been a different result.
