why without MODI being round why should players participate..MODI the god father is no more around now and the present management is not trustworthy. who knows,like MODI they may ruin some one's image again..heheeee
for longevity of your career for the longer version of the game ...it is better to avoid IPL..which is like fast food...too much of which will lead to health problems....for Cricket as a game
Infact players like shane bond and many others have got another chance in their career by playing in IPL. Cric Aus 'probably' has some restrictions with their top players, hence they are opting out..

poor decision ! His creer will end in another 3 years !!! then hw will try to get into IPL when nobody will buy him !

i think for purists like me...Mitchell johnson is better off playing cricket at TEST level than come down to India to be bought out (heart and soul Included) and perform below par against the likes of Raina (who can score on any indian wicket)..
