bowling is weak link?
by Sunil Vaidya on Dec 21, 2010 02:02 PM  | Hide replies

many people on this forum have said that it is our bowling which is the weak link. it is not our bowlers who is the WEAK link. in fact because our bowlers are our STRONGEST link that we are no. 1.

time and again i have emphasized this.

test cricket is the only format where we have to take all the opposition wickets to win. only bowlers take wickets. and if under dhoni we have won 13 tests out of 22 then it is because of our bowlers. batsmen score runs. they do not take wickets. surprising how previous indian captains with 'better bowling attacks than this' were never able to win 13 tests out of 22.

for readers of this forum i would like to point out that out of 52 tests that dhoni has played india have won 22 lost 9 and drawn 21.
under dhoni india has played 22 tests and india has won 13 lost 3 and drawn 6.

dhoni has played 30 tests as a player under different captains (dravid 19, kumble 10 and sehwag 1). Out of these 30 tests india won 9 lost 6 and drawn 15.
out of these 9 wins in 30 tests kumble (india's best and most successful bowler and highest wicket taker for india and the only bowler in the past decade that readers on this fourm seem to have any respect for) has played many tests.

another fact to be appreciated is also that out of 13 wins in 22 tests under dhoni, kumble did not play a SINGLE test.

I would also like to point out to those who consider that dhoni is a useless batsman and does not contribute to india win that dhoni averages 40 plus overall. While as a captain he averages 50 plus as a batsman. Also as a player he contributes with a batting average of almost 50 in india’s winning causes. While that same batting average goes to 58 as a batsman when dhoni is a captain. And all this when he comes mostly at no. 7.

MS DHONI the worst captain
by SKM Prasad on Dec 21, 2010 10:46 AM  | Hide replies

Useless Dhoni,

Stage is always bumpy or jagged for the guys who don’t know how to dance. Same case with DHONI….

You are doing nothing for HINDUSTAN…spoiling its name..

Its all because of corrupted BCCI / SRIKANT..

We need talented captain like KAPIL DEV / SAURAV GANGULY…..

Indian lost due to not following old rules of the book
by VIKAS BHATNAGAR on Dec 21, 2010 09:49 AM

Indians Team lost the match in the 1st innings itself by not following the basic rules of the cricket like not rotating the strike allowing the SA bowlers to execute their plan by bowling whole over to one batsmen if they rotate the strike would have been difficult for bowler to bowl to one batsmen, they first 8 overs without conceding any runs to us.

Over Rated Team India.
by BK on Dec 21, 2010 09:40 AM  | Hide replies

We have over rated Team India... Don't go by the record of Sachin, Rahul etc... This not enough to show a fear for the opponent team... They need to play… World cup for India is a dream… Initially we tell T20. Now we are not in top 5 teams… We are in number one Test and second in One day… This has happen as we have played 70% more cricket than other team… If you will compare Sachin with Kalis and Jaisuria, both are better the Sachin… Be clear century looks good in the record histoty not enough to win a match. If you all thinking India will get the 2011 world cup, you all will cry by March end. Ha ha h a ha ha

Indian team should not worry much.
by Prasad on Dec 21, 2010 09:25 AM

Indian team needs to forget about this match and concentrate on the future matches. Still everything is not lost, the series is still open. WIN/LOSS is part of the game. But definetly its not acceptable if we loose the next match.

Whom to blame?
by ASHOK IYER on Dec 21, 2010 06:52 AM  | Hide replies

Now, as India has lost the Ist test match, whom should we blame. Except for the first two session, the wicket was a placid one. Their batsmen applied themselves and got runs. Yet India could have salvaged a draw by scoring big in their last innings. Actually we gifted wickets. Shewag, Laxman, Raina, Harbhajan. Dhoni and dravid got two very good balls. In test match, the basic idea is to stick in the crease and then make runs. India lost a golden chance to regain their confidence in the second innings. Now, I think the series will be a complete white wash for SA.

Raina is not fit to play test cricket in such conditions. He should have left the ball.
