Bradman Played in only 10 grouds in entire Life. 5 in Aus and 5 in England.

Take out List of worlds Best 20 bowlers. Bradman did not play even one of them and The Indian Great played with most of them.

Bradman made 10 centuries in One Ground. Melbourne. Knows in and out what is the Pitch. No variations.

Fielding condition in Branmans era if sub standard. We can see in olden black and white videos . Jonty rhodes brought a new dimension to fieldsing in early 90s and we have all set of new standards for fielding.

He Played in home with very very weak teams which never won a Testmatch by that time and 9 of his centuries came from Team . He played in home with one team compriseing of players selcted on basis of stature not talent (like is he king/Nawab/Raja) .He played 5 matches with that team and 2 Centuries and two double centuris with that team .

Take out Test Best 10 Averages. 5 of them from Bradman era. Take Best 10 bowlers. None in Bradman era and and most of them from Sachin Era.

Useless.....
by Mahesh Dave on Dec 22, 2010 11:45 AM  | Hide replies

After Selfish SRT hit century (107 on forth day)......... SRTingu played like "airless baloon". He played 15 balls and made 4 runs(singals) and exopse tailender to play 20 balls on 5th day and stay not out. He didn't try to make 25 more runs to save TeamIndia from inning defeat (Infact he was capable to take the maximum strike and atleast could have score quicky the 25 runs by keeping maximum strike)......bad spot on Indian cricket and idiot blindworshipers made him human tinguGod.........very sad......

I completely agree with the views. In this particular innings he could have avoided innings defeat for India. He didn't go for quick runs on 5th morning.Sachin was bothered about his average than innings defeat for India

average ? you really think the average boost of .2 would matter or does matter to him ?
I mean seriously.

Tendulkar probably errored . he might be trying to emulate what Laxman did with Ishant in Mohali test

I don't want to make you look ignorant and stupid etc, hence let me break it down for you

Quoting CRICINFO

130 deliveries partnership between ishant and laxman
Ishant faced 92 deliveries

Ishant came in the end of 34th over.
Over 35 : laxman takes single off the 2nd delivery
Over 36,37,38 he takes a single off the 1st delivery.

this was when 70 runs were required to win.

India win and Laxman is branded savior.

Sometimes risks work and sometimes they don't. In sachin's case, it was a hopeless situation of 0 chance of draw , leave along victory.

Sameer, Ishant is 'okay' batsman, not a tailender like Sreesanth and Unadkat.

However, I don't see a fault with Sachin at all. His strategy did not work; or we would have seen a 30-40 each from last 2 tailenders and the game and Sachin's innings would have changed tone.

Mohan

When did Ishant become an Ok batsman in indian eyes ?

In Mohali right ?

Was he an Ok batsmen when he arrived in Mohali ?

Ishant is a tailender just like Sreesanth and unadkat to be very honest. He might be a better batsmen than those 2, but a tailender nevertheless

Sachin in Late 90's
by Vaidhy Narayanan on Dec 22, 2010 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin is a great player, hats off i don't think he needs certificate from people like us. The fact that he hits 7 tons (Maximum) at age 37 tells that either he is too good now or bowling is weak at present.

However i wud like to point few highlights from his career which i cherished watching live (TV and rarely in ground).
1997: Sachin was Captain, Final ODI against SA sachin made 32 runs only but brilliant shot making.
Year 1998 --> Sachin just removed from Captaincy and guess he himself liked it, back to his brilliant form, prime age and form at 25 yrs and showed supreme maturity in batting.
Match: Ind vs Pak at Dhaka, Sachin hit 41 runs from 25 balls in final, 1st ball he hit 6 against Saqlain Mushtaq who is upcoming great bowler that time and that ball not too bad for his 1st ball in innings, you shud see shock and hurt in his face, thats the brilliance of champion batsman.

Situation #2: Same year, India vs Aus Chennai, Sachin vs Shane Warne, guess everyone remember this, 1st innings sachin got out for just 4-5 runs, 2nd Innings he hit 155 notout

Year 1999: Chennai again, this time on losing side vs Pak. What a majestic 136. Too bad india lost that game.

dont quite understand this match winning losing 100 hysteria
by Salil on Dec 22, 2010 05:13 AM

if someone scores 100 and the match is still lost.. what does it tell you?
if someone scores 100 and the match is won what does it tell you?

in the first case others played their part aswell, while in the second case others failed.

So whether a 100 ends up being match winning or match losing is determined by others...not by the individual who strokes it.

sachin undisputed best

Bradman 29 centuries when the competition was not fierce with best technology & fitness not available to all. British & Australia completely ruled the cricket with best facilities to them.

Tendulkar 50 centuries when situation very competitive with best fitness & technology across globe. More & more countries with different environmental types playing cricket. Indian facilities/ diet do not match international levels. It is only last couple of years we have acquired best diet & physios.

Bravo Sachin the lord of cricket.

Yes, those who themselves have been an example for others during their peak days are praising sachin's prowess then it shows the kind of status he commands & governs in each form of modern cricket.DO we still need to say that he must be honored by awarding BHARAT-RATNA!

Don Bradman may having highest average. Viv Rirchards (as Yuvraj) may also hitting the ball hard but there is no one in the World like as blazing as Sachin (in his early 20s). Those new generation might not have seen him.

Sood is trying to be a troll :) Nice try... now let's educate you on facts:

Bradman played on only 12 grounds in his entire career. Other than a few matches against WI, Ind (weak teams), he has played only against Eng. Look at the bolwers he played against: Larwood retired having played only 21 tests; he never played after the bodyline series. The other bowlers in the England attack were even less experienced. Even Ishant Sharma has played more than that; what does that tell you about the bowling quality? The average in that era was 60 ; Bradman was certainly much better than the rest (like SRT, he was also accused of being a run-accumulator, as opposed to someone who tried to score quickly).

More than half of Bradman's career (pre-1939) was played during the "timeless test" era. There is no pressure on scoring quickly. Simultaneously, the fields set in that era emphasized on taking wickets over cutting scoring (precisely because the tests were timeless).

Finally, mediocre batsmen don't last long enough to play 175 tests. Do you see Ganguly around? Or his protege, Yuvraj? Steve Waugh played 168 tests, and he has only 32 centuries. Ricky Ponting has played 152 tests (give or take), with 39 centuries; he will have to score almost a century every other game to catch up with SRT.

I don't know if he is the greatest ever batsman; it's impossible to make a statement like that. But ex-cricketers seem to think he's great. But I suppose you know

Thank you Max, well said.
This debate is meaningless.
I think Sachin's best is yet to come. He 'realizes, breathes and lives cricket' like no one else.
