Bradman played on only 12 grounds in his entire career. Other than a few matches against WI, Ind (weak teams), he has played only against Eng. Look at the bolwers he played against: Larwood retired having played only 21 tests; he never played after the bodyline series. The other bowlers in the England attack were even less experienced. Even Ishant Sharma has played more than that; what does that tell you about the bowling quality? The average in that era was 60 ; Bradman was certainly much better than the rest (like SRT, he was also accused of being a run-accumulator, as opposed to someone who tried to score quickly).
More than half of Bradman's career (pre-1939) was played during the "timeless test" era. There is no pressure on scoring quickly. Simultaneously, the fields set in that era emphasized on taking wickets over cutting scoring (precisely because the tests were timeless).
Finally, mediocre batsmen don't last long enough to play 175 tests. Do you see Ganguly around? Or his protege, Yuvraj? Steve Waugh played 168 tests, and he has only 32 centuries. Ricky Ponting has played 152 tests (give or take), with 39 centuries; he will have to score almost a century every other game to catch up with SRT.
I don't know if he is the greatest ever batsman; it's impossible to make a statement like that. But ex-cricketers seem to think he's great. But I suppose you know

Bradman 29 centuries when the competition was not fierce with best technology & fitness. British & Australia completely ruled the cricket with best facilities to them.
Tendulkar 50 centuries when situation very competitive with best fitness & technology across globe. More & more countries with different environmental types playing cricket.Indian facilities/ diet do not match international levels. It is only last couple of years we have acquired best diet & physios.
Ask a random passer by, what would you ideally want from Team India? A non fanatic might say World cup . A fanatic might say No1 Test status and world cup. A girl newbie fanatic might say T20 world cup.
And if you ask them why? Answer: It will make Indians proud. A non-fanatic might not even know for how many years we have a world cup.All they know is its a big cup and it will make us proud.
Why are these important anyways? We gave a world cup champion for every 4 years. T20 chapmions for every 2 years. Constant doubts over our No1 status and might not hold onto it for more than 2 years.
20 years down the lane, whats so great about winning 2 world cups (1983,2011) out of 10 world cups so far and almost most of the countries will have the similar record.Whats so great about winning 2011 world cup? Indian are champions from 2011-2015. And that too if we loose 5-2 to Aus or SA, we cant even call them champions for 4 years.

Notable achievements that come to my mind till now 1983 world cup, Titan cup,Hero cup, 96 SF,Sharjah cup, Natwest trophy, 2003 Finals,T20 World cup,CB Series,No1 Test status. Except for No1 status, most countries have similar achievements. But then we have 'SACHIN'.The best bastman ever(Only Bradman can contest). Most of his records will stay alive forever(If you are cricket fanatic, then u will know that most of them are impossible to break).A poll in australia twice this decade said Sachin is the current best player.Ponting was no-where near in those polls. Current and ex-crickets, commenattors, everyone alround the world praise him as the best. That makes me an Indian proud.He is like Dhanychand of Cricket. He is like a Schumacher ,a Pele, a federer, a Tiger woods. 50 years from now, Indian cricket might become like our Hockey. Usa, Canada,Ireland,Afghanisthan might be top 4 teams.Your Grand children might not follow cricket, but they sure will be surprised and happy to hear that the best player, holder or most runs,centuries is an INDIAN. He is a phenomenon that happens once in a life time. I cherish a century from Sachin more than an Indian victory. This insight is just for Non-fanatics to weigh Team India achievments against Sachin's. Pakis with Indian names here and other morons with disgruntled lives who have to vent their frustration on someone, can keep trashin Sachin. Infact, its no fun without u guys.Sometimes ur comments make me laugh. Keep coming guys.

That was a real summation of facts and very rightly said. Even after 60 odd years from when Bradman stopped playing, people talk about him as a LEGEND and Proud to have a LEGEND born in india. If people try to look at Sachin as a role model they will for sure learn how to be level headed, how to stay focused and how to find ways to overcome difficulties (Physical, emotional)
Really amazing to note that,you can fool people once,twice or at most thrice,its simply remarkable how this man has managed to fool entire generation for 22 years,my hats are off for you if not for your useless records.

If you minus sachin contribution to the team,then India would have lost 95% of the matches badly.
Jokers on the forum write nonsense as they jealous of sachin. if these jokers take even a glimpse of sachin's personality, then they will become true children to their parents!
Sachin has scored more runs in abroad than any other batsman in the world. if you can't digest Sachin, your own indian, then these jokers must be slave to whites what india was before independence:

This is just okay and ordinary performance by someone who is playing from last 22 years, yes, i do appriciate that he is still fit , but 50 ceontury in 22 years means 2.5 in each year...which is again okay , just okay, performance.....see Younus khan, who scored 10 century in 2008 calendor year...i wish we have players like him in indian too also....all is well !!

Sachin just play for his personal record .....Out of his 50 century ...we were able to win only in 20 matches...he only think abt his personal record...never care for indian team...and that's by he din't even played a single ODI after his famous 200s.....if he is in that good form, he should take part in everymatches...but once he made 200...he again become GOD for all indian fool/media...crapy !

abey fool - how much avg would increase between 111 not out and if he was out...compare and see....crack pot...his avg before the match as 56.47 the avg if he was out for 111 would increase to 56.69 and with not out to 56.91 - not much of a difference - do you think he would put his reputation to increase in avg by 0.30 points....fool

Really Koti,I think u r obsessed with anti India feelings and determined to neglect Sachin's authority on the cricket field.It is very unfortunate for India that we have to bear people like you who are hell bent on undermining Sachin's achievements in favour of some paki small level player.Sachin's innings have often laid the foundation for India's wins. The great Shane Warne,himself acknowledeged that he sees Sachin coming forward and hitting sixes not only on the field but in his dreams too.What will u say to that?
BCCI should be select the team, If they really want to win the world cup 2011,Honestly Select These All Rounders, First choice are : V. Sewag, G.Gambir, R.Uttappa, S.Raina , yuvraj sing, MS Dhoni, Yusuf Patan, Irfan patan, Harbajan singh, Ishant sharma, Zaheer khan. 2nd choice are: Asish nehra, Vinay kumar, R.p.singh.
