In the chaos of 50th test century, someone silently reached the milestone of 12K test runs. 333 runs behind Ponting.

No doubt a great player, but one who is coming to the end of his distinguished career.

But for me the greatest batsman to have emerged from KARNATAKA is G R Viswnath,a master batsman, who though stats wise not scored more runs, was a more delightful batsman to watch when in full flow, superb ag pace and spin.

Hailed by Lillee, Roberts, Holding, Thomson, etc as the best Indian batsman they ever bowled to in their time

Have you ever seen the bowling of Lillee, Roberts, Holding or Thompson... Viswanath was a poor batsman.. Got the chance in many matches because he was relative of Mr. Gavaskar

You have been the saviour and lone warrior for Indian batting in the last 15 years with occasional help from the classy VVS. If not for you, Indian cricket will be at the bottom of the rankings.
