For years our cricket establishment and players togetherwith politicians are fooling a billion people. Our cricket players can not play genuine fast bowling and we are uncomfortable when the ball rises above knee level. We have to accept this truth. But have we done anything to bring our pitches to those levels. The answer is an emphatic no and why we have not done this is due to the commercialisation of cricket, everyone wants to see batsmen hitting huge sixes and fours. Actually the record of great players should be analysed critically, there should be separate records for runs scored on south asian pitches and the rest. Then you will see how great are some of our players. Unless ICC applies a principle that there should be a certain bounce on all pitches where test cricket is played, our cricketers will not improve. It was pathetic to see how our great players facing 2 good fast bowlers of SA.

I agree. But is it not because Sehwag bats up the order? Imagine if Sachin was batting ahead of Sehwag.
sehwage hit 325 in second inng., sachin hit 250 & laxman hit 150. dravid 0 & gabhir hit 55 , dhoni 99 runs, harbhajn 101. tahts it. thanks . any repely dravid bhai dekho
Oh.. ridiculous comment by a brainy dravid... u score 136 in a test match first innings and then expect the bolwers to finish them off for less than 136????
Re: Ashish Nehra or Irfan Pathan would have been better bet in SA
by anupam dhar on Dec 18, 2010 11:51 AM
I dont think so.. we have tried them all.. they never click together to hand us a series victory.. we should not play bowlers.. will not make any difference.. play 11 batsment instead :-)
What is Raina doing in test team in SA? Pujara is a much better technical player and only some idiot would give Raina a chance over Pujara. The reason is because Raina plays for CSK and both Dhoni and Srikant are from CSK so he is picked up before Pujara. Also, Instead of giving players like Jadav and Unadkat chances against NZ, Zaheer came back to the side against the minnows NZ and now when Zaheer is needed these minnows are playing. These selectors are completely clueless

completely agree. Pujara, Ashish Nehra and Irfan Pathan should have been there. Unadkat should have been tried only against New Zealand. We also see a lack of bouncing spinner like Kumble

The selection of Raina and Unadkat reminds me of the selection of Dodda Ganesh and David Johnson during the 1996 tour. By the looks of it, it might be a better idea to use 4 spinners than these jokers who neither bowl spin nor bowl fast. If SA can beat India in India with fast bowlers, India should be able to beat SA in SA with quality spinners
zak will bowl six balls and then sree or ishant or jaidev will leak runs..its about team effort..this week should be dedicated as resilience week..may india and england batsmen show resilience to save their respective matches..
Re: its not about zak
by anupam dhar on Dec 18, 2010 11:38 AM
Yes, you are right.. we should not play too many bowlers in tours like this.. I think we should play 11 batsmen..Dhoni can ask the part - timers to keep bowling one by one.. Sehwag, Raina, Sachin, Yuvraj, etc etc. This way SA will be frustrated ain taking 20 wickets. At least they will not know what to expect. Probably we can at least draw. if lucky, can win as well.
series (5-0) as compared to Sr so called star failed with 1-0 win in test series against NZ..had it not been for Bhajji & Laxman..India would have lost test series to NZ....... Hyped seniors are bane of Indian team.....
Re: ZAHEER COME BACK
by hanif muhammed on Dec 18, 2010 11:52 AM
Zaheer is injured but telling that he is the only swinging and good bouncing bowler available is disastrous for India. Ishant Sharma should take opportunity and bowl well. I think Sreeshanth should be given a goodbye from SA.
He is honestly admited the weakness and he is true in his assensement of the wicket too. It has certainly improved a lot. The scenario would not have been so bad if we have won the toss and bowled fiest. Now, the indian can prove this right by good batting in the 2nd inngs.

I think you were correct with your statement when you said 'The scenario would not have been so bad..' :-)
