All the cricket playing nations will agree that Australian Captian Ricky Ponting is the good cricketer of the modern era. Coz... he is the one who holds most run getter after tendulkar, I think after the world cup thetime has come for ricky ponting to quit from the ODI.
Steave & Ricky gave big name to Austrelian Cricket. It was the difficult taks to maintain the succeses after retirement of Steave but Ricky did great job & continued the success, nowdays he may be in badpatch, but he will come back. It may payback time for him & that is the reason they are loosing to England.
Indians say ponting had a good team so he scored runs..Infact he hardly scored runs when he was a non-captain..he was not even known as great players..Once he was made the captain,he started batting well..In reality it is hard to captain a team when you have great players..They need to respect you and listen to you..
Does that mean Dhoni is not a good captain? coz he has a good team ?
He won the champions trophy,one day series in India..Nearly one the first test match against India..
Give it sometime,This AUS team will bounce back as world champions..
aus does not have great players..They have a great cricket administration which can make a non performing player like captain and make him score runs..
Being only captain to lift the wc twice puts him in league of his own. Doesn't matter if he had great team to support or not. He remained captain for almost 10 years now, the main problem if he has is the fear of losing. He just needs to relax and at least now focus to have a better Australian team for future. He needs to have players with attitude like Hayden, Gilchrist, Warne, Symonds and McGrath more than their skill the ability that they have is under pressure they don't give an inch. This Australian team cracked under pressure a lot, Ponting needs to pull up the socks and think about the future, but right now he is too insecured to do that. By the team he is retired if he grooms young talent to be the future. He would be one of the best captains ever, this is his chance. Let's see if can succeeds or fails.
agreed that cricket has changed with time. but the fear of losing has gripped the aussies. now the other teams should learn to give it back. 4 ponting he doesnt deserve a welcome s he is a bad loser

No doubt one of the best player. Attitude is an issue but i thinks thats what cricket is all about these days. He has to accept that now Ausee is not that great team.
