My friend, no doubt he was a very fine player, a 70s and 80s sehwag if you like. But if you look at batsmanship at its best, its tendulkar. Viv had a rather unorthodox technique, and nowhere near the perfection tendulkar is. And also, he didnt have to play the amount of cricket that srt played. And also the expectations of a billion, which can take apart lesser mortals. Tendulkar can go from atttack to defence in the blink of an eye, and he has performed on any pitch(not sure of richards record vs spinners). Man for all ages and the greatest ever

Enough of ur great tendulkar. Lets see in the world cup.... India can never win a world cup if tendulkar is there in the team....

Sandeep, it should be the other way around. Viru is the Viv Richards of 2000s and not Viv the Viru of 1970s and 1980s. Even Viru has said it is unfair to be compared with King Viv, who is in fact the hero of both Viru and Sachin

Agreed Sachin is a great batsman, So was King Viv, both are greats in their own right. Incidentally King Viv is the hero and idol of Sachin and Viru

Nothing to disagree. The best team those days were...
Clive Lloyd Gorden Greenidge Demond Haynes Viv Richards Jeff Dujon (Murray was earlir) Any Roberts Michael Holdings Joel Garner Malcom Marshal Two more insignificant players whose contribution was never known.
Even today, if we look those videos of West Indies doing a white wash in England, Australia and New Zealand was a great sight.

Yea, u are right, one can see the videos on YOU TUBE and most of King Viv's innings on YOU TUBE incl that classic wonder 189NO in that ODI ag England.
U can add the fine left hander Alvin Kallicharan and another good batter Lawrence Rowe or Larry Gomes..it was a fabolous team that mauled all teams then
