Poor decisions go both ways and so eventually even out. If sachin has got 50 bad decisions i think he prorbably must have benefited with as many ones which went his way too.
I dont think Dhoni, Sachin and whoever is opposing DRS fear it will get them out more often or something...its just a tendency to resist change like what most of us do. Especially for people who have been around for long. At the workplace many dont like drastic changed in processes and always resist changes esp if those are going to affect the daily routine..isn't it?
Even when the 3rd umpire was being introduced for run-outs there was opposition from many senior players then, was it becasue they were afraid of getting run-out mroe often? Probably not.
in rediff only i see lots of stupid msgs scolding dhoni,sachin,srikanth,etc.....y u guys go and take their jobs,we indians r famous for unity in diversity but there is not unity here.wat is the matter with u guys,y dont u all think everyone r indians, wat if the player is frm maharastra or chennai or banglore,etc......all r sons of mother india.let us be unite dear brothers.take sports in a sportive way.dont praise anyone too much, dont scold anyone too much..........pls think.......and sorry if i hurted anyone

Why you are getting irritated. These cricketers are supported by heavy sponsors and they are blackmailing whole cricket world with money power. These guys will reach even double figures in their innings if DRS is introduced.

How about referee Dinnis Lindsey??
For his (Sachin's) stunt with the seam of the ball, Dinnis Lindsey booked him under ball tampering all according to rules and with in the spirit of the game.
Shamelessly Sachin claimed that he removed the dirt from the seam of the ball.
DRS can catch some of his (Sachin's) mediocre stunt on the cricket field.
I get a feeling that if Sachin felt any pressure in that match, his mind would not have functioned to do something on the seam of the ball as hardly one could remember any innings that Sachin played his natural game when the chips are down.

You are wrong to make such claim. The video footage clearly showed him using his nails to remove the dirt. The management quite rightly withdrew its complaint after it was forced by BCCI to look at the rules book. No where it is mentioned that cleaning of a ball can only be done by the Umpire. It only mentions that if the seam comes out, the thread could be cut only by the umpire. So Sachin didn't do anything wrong. If keeping the ball in proper condition is Umpire's responsibility, tehn they should also shine the ball before every delivery. Will they do it? It is just that some of the refrees and 3rd umpires from the developed countries are still racist and biased against the Asian Teams. So you don't join them. Also, the way the umpires used the UDRS but still stuck to their decisions despite ambiguiy in LBW decisions, is the real reason for India opposing UDRS, as it is in their view, useless. They will definetly be open to UDRS being used for Snick detection, using Hotspot Technolgy. Unfortunately, this technology is very expensive, so can't be used in mass scale. In my opinion, if you bring in UDRS for only catches to begin with, India should accept it. Over a period of time, they will adopt to accept it for LBW decisions as well. So think positive

The rule says that he should consult the umpire before touching the seam.
I agree with you that the umpires are biased on treating Asian players (McGrath and Sarwan eipsode to think of one...)
Why only BCCI is not expressing interest in UDRS? Other Asian boards have no problem with it either...
If technology is expensive for the richest board in the world, how come (leave the developed countries) the other Asian neighbhours are fine with it???

It is not Australia but the richest board in cricket BCCI who have been forced by Mr.Tendulkar And Mr Dhoni not to use DRS in Test matches till now,But now they have no choice

In my guess, He is opposing it only for the LBW decisions. If the Line, lenghth and Bounce can't be judged by the On-Field Umpire standing from 22 yards, why the hell do we need them? He should be acceptable to this UDRS for detecting snicks as he is one who never stood his ground, after snicking. He always walked and He has always respected the on-field umpire's decisions in LBW even when sometimes they were wrong. If you want to help the umpire and in that process the batsmen as well, why not draw lines across the pitch connecting the stumps, so that everybody instantly will know, weather the ball had pitched in line or not? UDRS for LBW is a waste of money. In my opinion, a batsman and the field side should be allowed to use the UDRS, only for the snick associated situtations and not for LBW.

Walked after snicking ? MCG one dayer 10/2/2008 , a huge edge to keeper gilly and Sachin stands similar other instances can be said He was never a walker and never will be.Saurav was even worse
Can't really understand why UDRS from QF stage, why can't they implement for the whole event??
UDRS should be made mandatory for every international match. But well you can't expect more when ICC is just bunch of jokers headed by corrupt & impotent Pawar.
Re: UDRS
by MeetFireWithFire on Dec 08, 2010 09:56 PM
Define what is potency???
How Pawar is impotent?? I cannot understand...
If Pawar had the potency to keep the UDRS out in INDIA matches, though there are other criketing boards endorsing it, then what will be termed as potency.
