That's what happens when you face quality bowling!!! (I wonder if you had to face Aussie bowlers in 90's in the company of McGrath & Warne) Also, this is what happens when the team doesn't perfrom well...the added burden pulls down the best batsman....he was paying good when he had a luxury of quality bowlers & batsman like Hayden, Langer & Waugh bros....so, from this perspective, admire SRT & Lara for consistently shouldring the burden of a weak team (bowling & batting) and still perform well in the long run.
When the team isnt performing well, look what happens to even a good batsman's batting Ponting is just all messed up due to the pressure. Now compare that to Sachin & Lara. These two guys played in sucky teams for better part of their life & still came up with such gr8 averages.
Get the clue? When the going gets tough, the tough get going
The stage is ready for India's dominance for many many decades. India does not have any shortage of talented player because of the large population. It can only get better. Australia has too few people to replenish all the great players who are tired and retired.
See, thats what happens when a team is TOO GOOD for its bench strength. Stuart McGill waited his entire career but couldnt get into the side because Warne was enough to send chills to english batsmen. Mcgrath, Gillespie and brett Lee also made sure they performed so well that the bench suffered a lot. "too much good is always good"
I dont think there is anything wrong in Ricky's captaincy. its just that the team that he's got is no where close to what it was and its. the same thing happened to the great West indies side of the 80s when all the greats retired at one go. Killer instincts can certainly win the side a lot of matches but the ability can never be overlooked and the cream that left australian side was simply too good.
Winning is important but in my opinion aussies shud now look to bring more youngster into the side so as to build it for the future. there are as many as 5 player over 30 in the side and thats not going to help their cause.

you are correct just a month ago, Srilanka thrashed these Aussies in the One Day tournament. It seems, this is the start of the end for the arrogant Aussies!!!
