Clean sweep
by Swami Nathan on Dec 07, 2010 11:14 AM

I don’t think so the match will progress in chennai. As the rain is heavily pouring in chennai since last week the match may be abandoned.

There is a tiny possibility of white wash.

Most of the times Indian Cricketers and selecters become complacent after winning the series and have often lost the opportunity to crucify the opposition .GG has right attitude so ahead and go for the kill 5-0 is better than3-2 or 4-1 but let the ball and bat talk.Good luck and remember Bangaldesh have done it - if you can not do it - it reflects your inability than NZ ability.

Abruptly, Gambhir has become arrogant... May be due to the kick of the captaincy... !!!

Correction. He is aiming for a cleen sweep which shows his confidence in his team and not overconfidence or arrogance in himself. He has not specifically suggested that he would win and show !! That would be overconfidence or arrogance !!

Playing XI
by Deep on Dec 06, 2010 10:09 PM  | Hide replies

Gambhir
Kohli
Yusuf Pathan
Yuvraj
Saurabh Tiwary
Parthiv Patel
Jadeja or Rohit
Aswin
Zaheer
Praveenkumar
Munaf

I don't think we need to give Rohit a chance because he anyway doesn't stand a chance to get a birth for the WC.(though that's the case with Tiwary too!)
Now onwards, whatever experiments we do, should be centered on the team combination for the WC.
My team for the WC would be this:
XI: Sehwag, Sachin, Gambhir, Yuvaraj, Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan, Aswin, Zaheer, Praveen, Nehra.
Extras: Munaf and Sreeshanth, Pragyan Ojha, Suresh Raina and Kohli.
The only problem here is that there won't be a reserve wicket keeper.

Gambir made this statement after 3-0 series win. So naturally he is aiming for 5-0. Its not overconfidence. Its setiing the new goal. If before 1st oneday if he has made that statement you can say that as overconfidence.

I critic need to be sensible, not for the sake of criticism to pass some comment.

Trying for the clean sweep is not over confidence. If you don't try you wont win...Indians need to get out of this "fake" humble approach. I see that on reality shows too...it's ok to be confident. Besides his statements are all in the favor of the team...showing you are humble is based on not giving yourself importance...giving the team confidence and importance is not a bad thing.....what are you afraid of ? Losing ? If you are always nervous you are a loser already. I dont think he is being arrogant or over confident at all.

I wish him all the luck for a clean sweep.
