Nobody hates Ponting but he is a very arrogant man... as he displays often. After day one of this test, he had a little spat with Strauss when leaving pitch after day's play. That sums him up... it's something you wouldn't see Dhoni do. As such, many have no respect for the 'poor' loser that Ponting is.

They have won 3 world cups in a row and have been No.1 for so many years when all the teams were strong incl. W.Indies, Kiws.. Nowadys there are only 3-4 teams which are fit to play test cricket.. others are just not in the same league like before..

Captain..... Only Imran Khan
by Banke Bihari on Dec 06, 2010 04:03 PM

I have not seen impressive captain like Imran Khan and some extent Mark Taylor till now. All others have fully depend upon individual greats.

Ponting was rated as one of the best captains when he had the likes of McGrath, Warne and others but now is the real test of his captaincy and he seens to have failed miserably. Even his batting has been bad. Now with the end of their domination in ODIs too we can expect a new world champion. World cup 2011 is up for grabs now.

So you mean to say that Dhoni too is not fit at all.. When Laksman, Sachin N Dravid retire..as you have seen that only these 3 play in Test..

Dear Opinionated Man,

I think you are the first person to agree with my sentiments and emotions! People didn't use to believe when I used to predict them. The first time when I saw Ponting on TV, (also the first time I watched a crcket match!) it was World Cup 2003 when Ponting was Man of the Match in the Finals. This was the first time I saw him and to my opinion, he was looking very arrogant. God doesn't like arrogant people- sow what you seed!

Gone are the days of Australian invincibility

With McGrath, Warne, Hayden, Gilchrist and Langer, gone are the days of Gone are the days of Australian invincibility.

I love these australian losses as it proves that a captain is as good as his team, and this arrogant ponting is being shown his real position.

Yes. Pontings & the entire Cricket Australias arrogance would take a "monkey" beating if they loose the ashes. I seriously would want that to happen. Aussies are no longer the best team in the world. There are a lot of teams catching up. The same happened to the West Indies too when Richards & company departed.

Dhoni is a great Captain - the team love him and that is reason enough. There is 'harmony' in the camp and lots of respect for Dhoni. His batting has suffered somewhat with the pressure of Captaincy and wicket-keeping. I am for him dropping ODI Captaincy but to retain Test...

It started with Perth Test against India in 2008. The Way sydney test was Won prior the Perth Test & associated atmosphere( Complain Against Hurbhajan) contributed to bad ' Karma' of Pointing & compnay.

There is no looking back since then, SA has beaten them now England & Next year India should beat them on Home ground

100% correct, Australia is now just a good team, not a great one. Wonder how they will become further when Ponting calls it a day, that is not far off.

Earlier they had that aura and invincibility due to the famed combo of Warnie and McGrath supported by a great batting line up and of course the legend Adam Gilchrist. Now with all of them gone, that special aura is gone and they just dont seem to have the bowlers with the nip and zip to strike at will.

May be in another 4-5 years time they may be back as the champion side again

Also Pointing has scored centuries when they were not No.1 and also when they were No.1 .. Note that he has scored 40 centuries coming one down. the reason you all are against Pointing was because he has trashed india in the world cups.

This not true! A lot of teams have thrashed India. The first time when I saw Ponting on TV, (also the first time I watched a crcket match!) it was ICC World Cup 2003 when Ponting was Man of the Match in the Finals. This was the first time I saw him and to my opinion, he was looking very arrogant. He was on a diff. of 4 test hundreds from Tendulker at that time. Now the difference is 10!
People didn't use to believe when I used to predict him. God doesn't like arrogant people- sow what you seed!
