Roebuck is sick
by dattaraj chodnekar on Dec 06, 2010 11:12 PM  | Hide replies

Well Roebuck comments r like some of the Indian News Channels where players r made heroes based on single innings. He has scored his first century in 18 months. Botham was a very good allrounder. pietersen is not even close to him

Is Sachin GOD?
by Jaya S on Dec 06, 2010 08:47 PM  | Hide replies

God does not choke either in World Cup Finals. Nor does he fail to take his nation to a WorldCup win after playing for 20 years. Nor does he fail in a simple task like captaining a national team or his IPL club team. Nor does he fail under pressure batting in the 4th innings of a test. Nor does he tamper with the ball. Nor does he cry when his captain declares when he is batting on 194. Nor does he wear protective gear from head to toe like the midget does. Nor does he score the most number of ducks in test cricket. Finally, nor does he evade taxes.

I think you are God bcos, by your name we are sure whether you are a man or woman. What makes you think you are above many cricket experts who consider Sachin. If you are an Indian be proud that your country produced a gem like that and thank any god you trust in that you saw this master playing. I am no fan of Sachin but I respect this man since he is the best in what he does. Just aspire to be like him in whatever you do.

Good one.Let him bring the World Cup. A person who fails in the most important moment like WC Finals 2003, or the pressure moment where Laxman scored like 281 cannot be a God.

Good Pun. This does not hide his incapability as highlighted by Jaya.

Get back to face the reality. He may be the highest run getter, century maker but what matters is to perform in a crunch situation. That separates great from good. He always fails at that time.

Correct. Brian Lara and Matt Hayden are 1d10ts who know nothing about cricket...

Hope they will join your cricket coaching academy to start their eventful careers culminating into some spectacular series of ducks ... ;-)

@Pseudo, it is not that Lara or other greats don't know about the game but the compulsion under which they are saying it. I have not seen any cricketer say why they think Sachin is better than say Kallis or Dravid or Lara or Ponting. They just say Sachin is greatest but it sounds hollow to anyone who knows the game well enough. I hope you were one of them since you seem like a decent bloke :)

Cook, i believe inspired that spirited England fight back. He has scored over 50 in all innings he has played in this series. Simply phenomenal, he has shown his mates the way to tackle this Aussie attack

Pietersen is the best to watch amongst contemporary batsman
by Jaya S on Dec 06, 2010 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

His attacking mindset right from the word go, his walking down the wicket fearless of any opposition bowlers and putting the fear into the bowlers makes him most attractive to watch.
Talent has never been in question for KP. Factors such as mindset, attitude, preparation and perhaps a hurt ego have kept him down for the past 18 months or so.
Here is my pick of best batsman(batsmen) to watch from some of the teams

Aus - Clarke and Ponting
SA - Amla & Kallis
NZ - Guptill
India - Laxman and Sehwag
Eng - KP and Bell
Pak - Nobody in current team
WI - Sarwan (not playing currently)
SL - Mahela

God Sachin is not in this list because no list is wide and detailed enough to include him.
God is not there to put in the lists but to show the beacon light to his deciples in the lists.

Incidentally, Sir Vivian Richards is the hero of all the present day batters u mentioned. From Sachin to Viru, Lara, Pieterson, Dravid, Ponting, VVS, etc, all hail King Sir Viv as their idol and hero, the most devastating batsman in the history of the game
