UDRS
by vishal baliya on Dec 02, 2010 03:37 PM  | Hide replies

When India was not an economic power and the boss of cricketing world the umpiring decisions where going against us. for example when Sachin can be hit on the head and he can be given LBW! etc. With the rise of India the marginal descisions are now going in our favour. It is poetic justice. To crub this poetic justice the western world has invented UDRS. Which we should not accept. As plain and simple as that.

;-).... Wow... what cricketing knowledge.... You stand alone...

P.S.: Please view Sachin's LBW on YouTube if you can...

P.P.S.: And thanx for reminding us that our recent climb to #1 is built around decisions wrongly being given in our favour... :)

The problem with Indians is that we over appeal and always thing that its in favor of us.
It is only the bowler or Keeper making the decisions while batsmen need to make a self hudgement. many of our players cannot use it properly

@Vinta. Your comments are illogical. What if we appeal excessively? That will not change the amount of opportunities you have if DRS is being deployed.
Why do Sehwag and Zaheer favour DRS in that case. Why are they not thinking like you :)

Since you don't understand logic; its hardly surprising that you find Vinta's message illogical.... ;-)

You ask - What if we appeal excessively? Well; that shows that our bowlers don't really know WHEN they've got their man and when they don't stand a chance... their motto in life is to keep bullying the Umpire on every opportunity; and eventually he might give in..
Let's look how UDRS will change it.... Under UDRS, they will have to decide WHEN to ask for a referral should the Ump turn their boisterous vocal gymnastics down... How do you propose they'll do it given their excessive appealing habit? 2 strikes; and they'll be left with no Referrals within no time...

Coming to Sehwag and Zaheer; they are not thinking like Vinta; but 30 other Indian players AND the BCCI ARE... . isn't it? ;-)

sachin and Dhoni are against it because they feel the system is not conclusive. this clearly shows we are not able to fit our logic to the way the DRS works.
the moment we base of appeals on gut feelings we will fail. due to our system we always appeal based on feelings and not logic. that is why indians are always warned for excessive appealing.

Yes, you hit the jackppot.

THIS IS THE ONLY REASON WHY THE INDIAN PLAYERS ARE AGAINST IT.

And to be honest, I agree with their stance.

If ICC wants DRS to be used, increase the number of appeals to say 6

Sensible thoughts
by Jay on Dec 02, 2010 11:40 AM  | Hide replies

I completely agree with Graeme Smith on the DRS. I feel the BCCI are being totally hypocritical in their stance against the DRS. With so much money floating in Indian cricket it amazes me how our board is misusing its muscle and influence in things that don't benefit cricketing standards. Take for example the pathetic pitches across the country used in test matches. Now we have the DRS where almost every international team except India are comfortable with. This is so stupid and idiotic. Such a stance may come back to bite India in the South African series.

India portrays itself as a world technology leader but we are averse to new technology?
Smith is absolutely right.
I feel BCCI is influenced by the Mumbai dwarf in our team.

hmmm dimwit, its got more to do with the team confidence in URDS. The players aren't the best judgers when it comes to making the right appeals and such.

If you want to implement URDS, they should increase the number of appeals to a number higher than 3.

Do that and you will see the indian players going in favor of that.

What is URDS since you mentioned in twice in your message?
Good idea!! Why don't we increase the no. of appeals to 300 (50 overs), so it covers the entire ODI. I am sure dwarfie and MS will adopt it then.

sure why not ? make it 300. Do you even understand the reason why the INDIAN team is against DRS.

The reason is plain and simple " the players aren't confident of making the appropriate use of it". Its got to do with the number of reviews each side gets.

I mistyped UDRS as URDS , so yeah sue me.

Indians like to cheat
by Ashwin Kumar on Dec 02, 2010 11:37 AM  | Hide replies

Indians dont use DRS because they hope people like Bhajji, Zaheer and Sreesanth can intimidate the umpire into giving favourable decisions like Kumble used to in his heyday. In South Africa, I hope umpires stand their ground or are influenced the other way such that 90% of borderline cases go against India. This bxxxx Dhoni and the BCCI bxxxx must be taught a lesson.

Ashwin

The indian players in general are not great judgers of appeals.

Why take a handicap such as this in a cricket match ?

If they want URDS to be implemented, they should increase the number of appeals.

;-)... Given that it is South Africa which is strongly pushing for UDRS, your comment was really hilarious... ;)

All I can say to you is probably Nel and Donald knew when they had their man and appealed.... it just happened that they had the batsman out more times - hence more appeals...
With us the case seems to be reverse... doesn't the evidence point to it?? :)
