Re: Betting per se is not illegal. Fixing is.

I feel it should be made the other way to stop this; make fixing legal (no punishment, if happens) and betting illegal. The root cause should be resolved. And any reasons why betting should be allowed (any injustice done if made illegal)?

The origin of corruption and fixing is india and it's cricketers..worst, after retirement one cricketer one fellow accuses another...ha ha ha

Look who is barking. Someone whose nation's cricket is facing acute crisis and here is accusing India of being the origin. Hahaha...we all know the brains behind the menace are all now in Pakistan from Dawood Ibrahim to Chota Shakeel who run their satta business thr their lackeys in Dubai, Pakistan, Bangla,South Africa and so on.
As for cricketers accusing, it was just one instance where as in your nation's case, so many former cricketers accuse their ex team mates of being in the know of things and indulging in match fixing...forgotten Aamir Sohail accusing Wasim Akram or Sarfraz Nawaz accusing Imran Knan...

It's bcos u people have come and shit.when we had dedicated cricketers like Z.Abbas and Miandad some of your cricketers thought..."we can't win anyway,so let's make money" and that's how the satta bazaar originated in India has become an MNC now.

We did not come and shit, it is u people who came and shit here by cowering before us just as u are doing now coming to Indian forums and barking. We are not that cheapos like u selling ourselves for a few dollars.
It is all a open secret where the Satta bazar originated and became a institution, it was in Sharjah by Paki dons later followed by Dawood and co. Later it spread to Pak and then India thanks to your goons,
Wth people like Dawood and co on your soil, there is no shortage of SATTA dealings in your disgraced failed land.

Artherton may be right based on rumours making rounds about complete ambit of "spot betting"(not necessarily fixing) taking place in India. In fact it is alleged it is one of the regular ways of business for the rich businessmen and traders in western india in cities like Mumbai, ahmedabad, jamnagar etc.Stories circulate as to how in gujrat in cities like jamnager, ahemedabad etc.even lesser people try their luck in cricket betting in chandi bazar and cotton markets .Bet is placed on number of individual events like, no ball, wide, a four or a six or getting out etc. on individual balls of the six balls in any over and so on.Further, betting is more prevalent when TOPMOST Indian star players are in action.Of course all these do not necessarily connect to match fixing.
The best way to stop it may be to announce that the players will not be penalized for such a thing and there will not be enquiry for any such thing and hence it can be expected always. Then I doubt how many will get into betting without knowing for sure the outcome of a specific bet he is getting into. Just a wild thought may be!

And also a question I would like to add: Is betting leagal? Especially in UK? The source of the problem should be cut first
Re: India & Sri lanka
by manjunath nagappa on Aug 30, 2010 08:00 PM
Not just the final in Srilanka, most of the matches under Dhoni's captaincy are fixed. BCCI administrators and some of the highly influencial & powerful ex-cricketers from Mumbai are the culprits. They are spreading this fixing disease to entire world. Ofcourse pakis and lankans are and can be easily manipulated to fixing as both the countries are developing.
Re: Why ICC HQ shifted

Yes, true. It is shifted to Dubai. Unless until people who are involved no matter whether a player, or in management..should get life banned in form of involvement in the game of cricket. At the end, no one is bigger than the game

I also agree with you. They shifted ICC Hq to Dubai, as it would be easier for them to fix the matches as most of the bookies are living is Arab countries
