MS DHONI the useless captain
by SKM Prasad on Aug 30, 2010 12:04 AM

MS DHONI the useless / selfish is hero when there was a team built and maintained by SAURAV GANGULY and RAHUL DRAVID was with him. INDIA won T20 world cup because of the fantastic players built by GANGULY. Not because of this useless guy. This man don't have any guts to build or maintain one good team. DHONI is spoiling HINDUSTAN's name. Kick him out from captaincy and make VIRENDER SEHWAG as captain and YUVRAJ SINGH as vice captain.

What about our fixers?
by Against Psuedos on Aug 29, 2010 11:32 PM

When we became embroiled in match fixing controversy, the Board swept lots of things under the carpet.Azhar was felicitated by the same Board a few years later. Now he is a MP thanks to the Secu-Licker Govt.Jadeja continues to preach virtue on TV.Kapil Dev's alleged role was never probed.Shobhan Mehta, the worlds biggest betting kingpin, was an invitee @ Sachin Tendulkars wedding. While agreed that our neighbouring failed state of a God forsaken country is the Mecca of match fixing, we clearly need to look into our own shady past......

Match vs Spot Fixing
by sanath on Aug 29, 2010 11:19 PM  | Hide replies

A lot of ppl in this forum seem to be confusing match fixing with spot fixing.

Match fixing and spot fixing - both are different. Match fixing means fixing the result of the match. Spot fixing is deciding an immediate development for eg a person bets on the 4th ball of the 3rd over as a wide and it is a wide, he wins money.

Long back a certain legend was accused of spot fixing wherein he would always bat till lunch and when they went for lunch his score would be in the 90s. During lunch a msg would reach him about how many ppl betted that he would complete his century and how many betted against, and that would decide whether the player scored a century after lunch. That is spot fixing.

In this case, Mazhar could predict exactly the no balls going to be bowled by Amir and Asif. Spot fixing is more dangerous becoz the fielder on the boundary ropes is enough to pass the msg, and also u dont need to convince the whole team or atleast some players to cooperate, whereas match fixing requires the cooperation of more than one player, and cannot be done immediately.

So I presume this LEGEND is GAVASKAR.

Great now not only the current players but also older players who have retired long ago are also being dragged in! Talk about a circus!

While technically both are different, essentially it's corruption and needs to be dealt with as such.Technicalities like what your talking about is what helps the corrupt get let off loghyly

I meant the same - that both are corruption and both shud be punished. The fact is in the present team setup no one needs to match fix against Pakistan, they lose as it is. Spot fixing is resorted to earn a quick buck.

Not only technically, corruption in any form is wrong shud be punished. Making a mockery of the game to earn money is always wrong.

Also, your contention of a certain legend battign till lunch relies on the assumption that he will indeed play that long and not be dismissed by the opposition. That makes it match fixing and not spot fixing.No-balls,certain mannerisms, who takes strike first, who bowls first, dropped catches etc can be called spot fixing

The fact is that if he batted till lunch he would always be in the 90s for sure and in a position to complete his century if he had to, but always he would go to lunch on his 90s. It is said that the person's father used to send in a msg about how the odds were about his chances to complete his century, and the said player would play accordingly.

This incident is from the 1970s and 1980s - so u can understand that spot fixing was rampant even then.

My point is that the entire premise is based on the fact that he had to bat all that long without getting dismissed! And not get dismissed/get dismissed after the lunch break!!Both are not possible without assistance from the opposition, which makes it match fixing!

AP, the scene for a bet arises only when he is on his 90s of course - that is obvious. The fact is IF he bats and reaches a position where he can score a century before lunch, it would always be delayed till after lunch.

BTW the player himself was good enough that he could bat till lunch if he wanted to, which is why he was a legend...ur guess as to who it was :)

Does not matter...
by David Johnson on Aug 29, 2010 11:07 PM  | Hide replies

pakistan is begging the money from all over the world, even the organization, in which i work is donating the money to pakistan to deal with the flood crisis ..

on the other hand, their players are so insensitive that they are cheating their own people and cricket fans..

whenever a nation is built with only mos1ems, you can expect a country with the characters like these guys...

in Indian cricket team the corruption is much less worse than what is shown by pakistani cricketers.., in Indian team corruption existed when Shri Azharuddin ( was he a non-mos1em ?) was the caption of Indian cricket team..

In India, corruption is highest in the politics and it is due to vote bank politics..

The country and the team to which you guys always support even if it is playing against your own nation India..

pakistan is a live example, how a country would be, which is made on the basis of terrorhism and without non-moslems..

So, it should be an eye-opener for Indian moslems and hence rather than going for their agenda to again make a pakistan from India and increasing mos1em population by producing 3/4 or more kids, they need to concentrate on supporting India and keep their population low so that India could become a much more developed and prosperous country..
