Good experimentation...now we know who are NOT match winners!!!
by Rick Shaw on Aug 23, 2010 12:45 AM

- When 3-4 main senior players are rested/injured, it was a golden chance by youngsters to prove their abilities, but they are loosing the faith of people!! (can we say youngsters don't get enough chances!!....count how many chancees given to Karthik, Jadeja & Rohit!!)
- Each player in the team should be a match winner, can we say this for Jadeja & Karthik!! (a selection problem). The #7 slot is meant for a Bowling allrounder (for which Pathan brothers are the only choice we have currently). I can not fanthom Jadeja in the all rounder slot..he is just a decent spinner; can not hold place in the team as a lead spinner & definitely not a batsman; he needs to go immediately.
- Dhoni plays politics with the batting position!!! On flat pitches with India in good position (like 100 for 1) he would promote himself to # 3 or 4 slot but when conditions are tough, we would go down as much as possible!! Not a good example by a captain!!
- Rohit, Raina & UV are considered future of Indian batting from now on but are no way complete batsman that can on all conditions & surfaces!!!

A cry for neutral umpires for ODI as well!!!
by Rick Shaw on Aug 23, 2010 12:43 AM

These kind of matches prove the immediate need for neutral umpires even in ODIs (the way it has been done for Tests)...couple of key players get a wrong call (like Sehwag & Karthik) & the whole match gets turned upside down!!!

ICC.....Referral system in ODI also!!
by Rick Shaw on Aug 23, 2010 12:42 AM  | Hide replies

This match is a good example of the need for referral system (say max. 2 referrals per team) like the one in Tests...this will not slow down the proceedings much but will benefit both teams from intentional / unintentional umpiring blunders!!
(currently its allowed only for Tests (if both teams agree) but not an option available for ODIs)

Hmmmmmm

he series is a good chance for the New Comers...such stories are not very rare with the Team. Only few months left and still so much permutation and combination with the Team is going on. The Dambulla pitch had some juice for the Bolwers and again batting Exposed..

There are few players who I dont know why gets so much chances..Like Karthik(replacement for Sachin) and R Jadeja. There is no doubt in these players that they are an average players. Their wickness hides with the Other players performance. Somtime, Sachin,Sehwag,Gambir,Dhoni,Yuvraj or due to any Bolwers. I dont remember any match that has India Won becaouse of these TWO.They dont have the Potential to turn that match..but still playing. They will be thrown out but once and only once India costs some more major shameful defeats ..

How Jadeja is better than Irfan Pathan thats a Question of debate? Does Jadeja bats better than Pathan or Bowls better than Pathan??

Is Karthick is the Replacement for regular Opener Sachin????

Wonders and Wonders...

first define the roles of the players
by vijay ranjan on Aug 22, 2010 11:07 PM  | Hide replies

since long Im seeing, a lot of messages on the discussion board.but dear friends its not the practice nor the performance.if u look bit seriously into this you will find the are are a lot of if and buts.there are a lot of loops which needs to be filled by the selectors.First of all where is the openers.Good Sehwag is there but what about the other end.Are we goin to play the cricket from only one end.Karthik,is certainly not the opener.lets come to no. 3 slot,Rohit is there how often he scores. He himself dont know, how much he has scored in his last 15 ODIs,actually this slot should must be given to Raina.Don't forget his performance and scorings at No.3 , No. 4 is for Yuvraj. the most susceptable batsmen against the spinners and outswinging deliveries.more over when he is in and wat time he is out no body knows. Who comes at no. 5 Raina.now a days most cofusing player in the team.Especially about his role...No. 6 Dhoni, thinks that he can adopt any position in the team can bat anywhere. its ok sometimes u performed even after floating your position but that certainly affects other players also.rest players I never count as team member as there main is to bowl which they dont know.So first the team management and the board must think about making a team where palyers have their defined roles.SOME PLAYERS have got the VETO power that whenever they want they can join the team thats good. I can utter a single word against them as they have done a lot for India. They are GREATS.

dont write lots of rubbish.......
simple and crystal clear...
no.3 position requires a world class batsmen who can hold the inningse, build partnerships, play till the end....more importantly not a "flat pitch bully"......."rahul dravid" the missing link in this one day team....
no master blaster, no sehwag can make a big difference to this team....
dravid is clearly the need of the hour for team india...it's loud n clear...
none of the phalthu 20-20 format players or domestic flat pitch bullies are capable of the role dravid plays for team india...
it's a slap on the face of "bunch of jokers" and all those who comment negative abt dravid's ability as a one day player..

probability
by veerapuram dharan on Aug 22, 2010 10:59 PM  | Hide replies

when few games are played, teh probability of occurence of umpiring error is less..but when too many games are played, there are bound to be more errors from the umpires..in a way, we can assume that srilanka and pakistan conspired to defeat india..as asad rauf was the umpire and dharmasena..

at least we haven't seen, in recent times, these many wrong decisions to one side that too of main batsmen.
If the problem is number of games, the number of 'ICC panel umpires' should be increased.

Flop Show
by vicky on Aug 22, 2010 10:56 PM

A super flop show by Indian batsmen. Pathetic and sub standard batting by the team. This simply shows that we need some experience in the Indian batting lineup. With the absence of Tendulkar and Gambhir, team should have retained Dravid/Laxman for the ODIs. People dont learn from mistakes, neither the Captain nor the selectors. Am not saying the young guys are a waste, but the team needs a good mix of experience and young players, which is definitely missing in the team in SL. T20 is more like gambling, so anyone can win the match, but tests and ODIs are different which needs patience and skill, which unfortunately our great selectors are not able to understand.
