Re: This is a very good logic

Yes , very true. I could not get why the six should be ruled out. Suppose India requires 1 run to win, and Sehwag hits a six, and the ball was ok. So, how many runs will be counted for Sehwag ? 105 , isn't it ? And when India's ODI total against SL will be counted , 6 runs be counted. So, the delivery was not complted as soon as no ball was thrown. It will be completed when the batsman hits it ( if he manages to) and the ball reaches somewhere and it is collected by the fielder.

I agree! Logically, whatever happens on that ball has to be counted, and the match should be declared over only when the ball is dead. ICC needs to re-look at the rules.
I do not understand how the delivery was counted as Sehwag has faced it but not the runs scored by him?
Another question I have is, what if a bowler bowls a noball which happens to be a wide aswell? obviously, it will be called a noball, since that occured first. But would they count it as a ball faced by batsban, when it was not reachable?
MCC needs to relook and set the rule tight. I dont believe in blame game, first the law should be set right by authorities, then sportsmanship should be expected out of players.
If I had to advice MCC, I would say the bowler should complete the match with a legal delivery, unless the batting side gets allout. Meaning, the six Sehwag scored should be counted and then a free hit ball also should be bowled.

I a dug bit deeper, I meant "Marylebone Cricket Club"
::Source Wikipedia "Laws of cricket":: Quote1: "The laws of cricket are a set of rules established by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC)" Unquote1
Quote2: the MCC retains the copyright in the laws of the game and only the MCC may change the laws, although nowadays this would usually only be done after discussions with the game's global governing body the International Cricket Council (ICC). Unquote2
Shewag is a looser who made a BIG issue out of nothing. There were three chances for him before this no ball was bowled and he could not score a needed single out of those three balls. And after hitting the no ball for six, he gleamed and beamed not for team's win, but thinking that he scored a century. Finally when he realized that he was not given a century because of no ball, one should had seen his face - crestfallen!! So, he cared more for his century than team's win...

Sangakkara and Randive should be banned to play any match in IPL by Titu Sha (View MyPage) on Aug 17, 2010 01:46 PM | Hide replies
Sangakkara (who insisited to deny the century to Shehbag) and Randive should be banned to play in any match of IPL. I personally appeal to boycott these two players to be hired by any team or to be allowed to play in any match atleast in IPL. Indians will be called paper tiger or finger mouse if they don't do so.

dear here is not a matter of sehwag 100's, the main issue is sportmenship.. and it is very clear that Randiv do it deliberately. and tell me how the sehwag is looser.. he is a Man of the match
YESTERDAY SINHALA CRICKETER RANDIV'S CHEAP ACT OF BOWLING A NO BALL TO DENY SHEWAG A WELL DESERVED CENTURY, ONCE AGAIN PROVES THAT,THIS SRILANKAN'S HATE INDIA & INDIANS.
SRILANKA IS ALWAYS PRO-PAKISTAN & PRO-CHINA.
DURING OUR WAR WITH CHINA. SRILANKA SUPPORTED CHINA.
DURING OUR WAR WITH PAKISTAN, SRILANKA SUPPORTED PAKISTAN
SRILANKA IS A SECURITY THREAT TO INDIA.
OUR GOVT SHOULD BE WARY ABOUT SRILANKA'S CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH CHINA & PAKISTAN.

This is totally nonsense. Randiv has worked within the rules. Dont tell me I much sincere you are in your life.. Can you???

I feel Raj Pal what you wrote this is totally nonsense. You are supporting the negativity undelying philosophy. Banning negativity also is a rule of life - do you not feel that required to be followed? By saying that 100% sincerity is not possible I will support insincerity?
Cheap Cricket...they were the founding fathers of negative cricket (remembering Jaysuriya blowing on the leg throughout ?) and now we have Randiv...ICC is another crackpot. If the team needs 1 run and the ball is hit for a six - the additional 5 runs is counted correct ? So why not give the credit to Viru ?
It was obviously an intentional no-ball, but looks like the Lankans have realised their error and apologised. Indo-Lanka matches are usually played in the right spirit... So it's probably time for the two captains to make a joint statement and move on from this matter.
Re: Time to Move On!
by Niraj Sahoo on Aug 17, 2010 01:46 PM
yes I agree we must move on. Not because Lankans have realised their mistake but because they will never give up this type of attitude. They are habitual in doing these type of things. All the cricket teams must live with it
Anybody who watched the match closely could hear sangakkara yelling in sinhalese to the bowler.I do not understand sinhalese but could clearly hear word "century".And next ball itself was a wide!!!

Your post itself says that you neither watched the match, not heard what Sangakkara shouted.. It was not wide ball, but a no ball that Randhiv bowled!!
