The system though might not be foolproof , but it still is the way forward. Wrong decisions can be referred. It is just a case of deciding when to use it. Just b'coz the last time around India did not benefit from this system does not make it redundant. As the commentators keep on saying - "When u have the technology to assist the umpires, why not use it"...

problem is the indian players are not comfortable using it. They have 3 referrals and they aren't very sure when to use it.

I like your attitude. Either suggest things which might be thought up on or suggest vague things. You followed latter - because your idea will kill cricket from the memories of cricket fans ;-)

no the reason is , urds doesn't solve the problem. now instead of the umpire, judgement is on the player to decide to ask for urds or not.
In essence it limits bad decisions , but doesn't kill bad decisions.

only place where this automatic 3rd umpire referral system would come into picture is for lbw's and maybe for close catches ( for which 3rd umpire is already asked for) as of now.
My only point is if we are using UDRS then it should be 100% technology base. It means if Hawk Eye suggest the ball will hit stumps its out. But currently the system has big flaw like 3rd umpire judges whether ball will hit the stumps after analysisng the height, position etc. Either trust the technology fully or rely on field umpires. I support the India stance of opposing it.

It is not like that anymore. If umpire has given someone out lbw and hawk eye suggests that ball is hitting the stumps then batsman is given out. Only if hawk eye says that the ball will miss the stumps then the batsman is given not out.

hi Sports Lover, how about giving UDRS to umpires like they call third umpire when in doubt rather than to players.

UDRS should always given to the players with a limitation..say, two each to the bowling and batting side...if it's given to the umpires,it has no meaning.

If this is the case I accept am bit outdated. Thanks for your information. If what you are saying is true then we should have UDRS in all International matches atleast the test series.
