May be the remark was well timed, but the fact remains that Bedi was a genuine bowler (though ordinary if Murali is to be believed and extraordinary if Ian Chappel, who has played against Bedi, is to be believed)and Murali was is and will always be a chucker accommodated by the ICC for reasons well known to ICC only. The debate ends there for there is nothing more to argue when comparing a genuine bowler to a chucker!
there is no doubt about it. other wise why ICC changed the rule to allow his arm bending ? these Srilankans seem to think that they are the best team in the world although they have never won anything outside their home.

I agree with your point that Srilankans take pride with limitted capabilities (able to win only at home).
However Murali is not a chucker as per ICC.
ICC did not favor Murali either. They favored BCCI as our own Harbhajan caught for chucking. Thanks to BCCI's muscle flexing strategy to legalize chucking. If chucking is legal as per ICC, then why call Murali a chucker.

Srilanka have never won anything in Australia, SA, West Indies and Newzealand where ball seams around. They have done fairly well in sub-continental conditions or if the pitch is too slow to suit their spinners
Bedi by persistently criticizing some one or the other is lowering his bestowed stature. He can contribute better to the game by advicing young cricketers rather than doing some foot in the mouth talk.

Murali is actually right when he said Bedi would be thrashed if were to play today.
What the heck would Bedi advice as he himself is not sure on what is the chucking rule?

Bedi calls even Harbhajan a chucker, especially when bowling the doosra. Suddenly the doosra appears to have vanished from Harbhajan's armoury and he is struggling to take wickets!
They are slaves who dare not be in the right with 2 or 3 .Bedi is that rare no nonsense man who calls spade a spade. In the kaliyug, truth usually loses to politics, wrong.Bedi's detractors have no calibre to refute him on merit.Murali was a chucker.

He did call Harbhajan a chucker , Dont you remember his comments that the best offspiner in india is shewag ..
bedi is in the habit of criticising most of the popular players, murali is not the first one.amongst the indian players whom he has criticised are saurav, sachin,& azhar. he is a die hard australian supporter,he has never spoken against the aussies dirty habit of sledging & even in the harbhajan-symonds case had favoured symonds.his first wife was an australian, who ditched him a couple of years later, but even then his love for the whites has not diminished. in the 1974 disastrous t0ur of england under wadekar,he bowled in the nets to dennis amiss, the english batsman, who consequently murdered our bowling in the series by scoring a double hundred & a century. so congratulations to murali for bashing up bedi.
The ICC indeed conducted tests on bowling actions of many cricketers several years ago. Gavaskar, Aravinda de silva, Hadlee, Botham and other blokes were part of the fact-finding committee with a view of scrutinizing bowlers that had bent-angle of more than 10 (permissible limit as per a researcher from a university in Perth). Murali had a bent-angle of 13.4 degree, Brett Lee and Shoib Akthar had 13, Glenn McGrath had 12.5, Flintoff had 13.5 (watch his action carefully), Gillespie had 12, Warne had 6. If Murali had to be banned because of his 10 bent angle, then ICC had to ban the likes of Mcgrath, Shoib Akthar, Gillespie, and others simply on the basis of that rule. When John Howard called Murali a chucker, the bent-angle information had already been passed on to Murali through Aravinda. Murali mentioned the bent-angles of all other bowlers. Everyone shut up. On the recommendation of Gavaskar, the bent angle was increased to 15 degrees and this is ICC RULE. Anyone that bends more than 15 degrees is a chucker.
So guys, if ICC has made allowance of 15 degrees to save the likes of Flintoff, Akthar, McGrath AND NOT JUST MURALI, why should an ordinary bowler like Bedi make a hue and cry about it? Stick to rules before accusing Murali of chucking. thanks
