With infinitely corrupt politicians getting involved, it is no surprise that our cricket establishment is what it is today - black money, tax evasions, involvement of big-time private interests, celebrity crap, sleaze, booze and possibly drugs.

Gone are the days when Sachin was addressed in media as India batsman. It is now Mumbai Indians batsman. Similar case with Dhoni, Sehwag, Yuvraj etc.

The BCCI bigwigs will sell our national pride for money.

What he ignored.

IPL $4B Brand !! that is what some reports suggest , I am sure, it is exaggeration.
IPL in last 3 years has FAILED to draw attention/impress NON Cricket playing nations,
Such as China Japan, Italy, France etc.
Actually that was the Real test for IPL.
What Modi ignored is "Quality of the Title"
IPL By NO means World's prestigious Title.
Only 40 % of world best players are playing.
India Does have Black money to the tune of $1000Bn.
Mere Dollars pouring in Can NOT gurantee Long term success.
Title ( Like Say Wimbledon) should be of high quality.
Team should not have retired players and 30% debutant.
IPL MAY OR MAY NOT be success story in Long run.
Future is NOT that bright.

Corruption is bound to be there where our politicians are!
by VASUDEVAN V on Apr 22, 2010 02:21 PM  | Hide replies

Corruption is bound to be there, where our politicians are present! The only reason why the IPL muck has started flying around is because Lalit Modi, for some unknown reason, decided to take out Sashi Tharoor. As Sashi Tharoor is a light weight politician, probably Lalit Modi did not expect that the politicians will come together to destroy IPL and hang him. But, like a scorn lady, the politicians have banded together to finish off Lalit Modi and, by extension IPL. Till a few days back everyone of these politicians (remember, even the family members of the dynasty were sitting in the stadium watching IPL tamasha) were basking in the glory of the IPL tamasha, and Lalit Modi was the centre of attraction. Suddenly everything has changed. In India we can never say that everything has changed for the better, because the more they change the more they are the same. That is one reason corruption can never be weeded out in this country, nor can the politician-police-goonda nexus be ended in this country. My only hope is that Lalit Modi, when pushed to the corner, will let the shit fly and take down many more powerful politicians along with him. That will be the day indeed! Because, in this country nothing can move without the support of the politicians. Ask Telgi, the fake stamp paper hero! And remember, Sharad Pawar is a common factor in Telgi case (Telgi named him) and IPL tamasha!

Vasudev, You are right there was a time when irrespective of Party every one seems to be enjoying the game, right from Gangi siblings to the Sushma Swaraj, during first IPL, L.Modi did not show any bais towards any particular party, but in this IPL3 he clearly showing his soft corner towards BJP, and then news come also that he is from BJP/RSS group.till that time it also fine but the way he tried to corner Throor, it was like digging his own graveyard. you are right he thought that Throor is a light weight but he forget he belongs to Ruling party group and even a smallest leader of ruling party is nver a light weight leader, whether it is a BJP govt, or Sonia govt. i was a big fan of Modi, since he give us a brand called IPL, but unfortunately he himself destroy his own baby. i feel pity and low.dont know next IPL4 rahega bhi ya nahee.

why ?
by alok praveen on Apr 22, 2010 02:20 PM

why are you glorifying the wrong doings...afterall wrong is wrong...however capable or bright it may be...seems that Indians (esp people writing this articles) have forgotten a term called ethics.First the media glorified the wrong doings (including murder charges) for a gujju marwari named Ambani...and now its another marwari name Modi ...Why ? We as a society are still supporting the results ... we never care of how it comes...thts sad..death of ethics !
