Return of DADA
by bhagat singh on May 02, 2010 08:50 AM

This IPL will be known for the better performance of Mumbai indians and also a last minute come back by the chennai
but for me, I will remember this IPL only for the great come back by saurav ganguly
He is one of the finest players the cricket have ever seen
and by his performance in this IPL has prooved that
I want to see Saurav playing in next few IPLs and probabely winning the tournament also in the next times
Just need to have a little bit improvement in the bowling department
Shahrukh must hire a good bowling coach and some bowlers with the potential in them
Rest can be done by DADA only
Hey Dada, We still miss you in the team India and will miss you forever
But want to see a few more years of DADA's big hits through IPL

Sachin Prooving a point
by Crick fan on Apr 29, 2010 05:01 AM

He has hit maximum 4's in the tournament, he was the highest scorer. He played compact and was technically correct. More than once I heard the commentator say- Welcome to copy book batting, after see him hit an elegant 4.
He did not hit as many 6's as others would have done. But he is prvoing a point that even in T 20 you can bat correctly without hitting the ball in air and still keep scoring at desired pace.

he is not piced bcos he is not from chennai.. Any person having little sense in cricket would pick ROBIN after his play in IPL, but mr Konga Srikanth cant see this bcos he wants only one more KONGA in the team at the expense of a talented player like ROBIN.

Heartening...
by sdfgdfsgdfg dfgdfgsdfg on Apr 21, 2010 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

Its really heartening to see that the best and most fierecsome Indian opening pair ever, and 1 of the best in the whole cricketing history occupy the highest runs for Indians in IPL-3. Sachin and Saurav still can make a wonderful pair when it comes to scoring runs in bulk and provide solidity to the innings.
Some had criticised Saurav for being unfit for T20 in the 1st place, and unfit atleast to open, but my take on it is that since he paces up the innings at a later stage, he makes up for the slow starts. He provides solidity to the team by staying on wicket and building partnerships, and yes this concept of building partnerships does hold gud e-nuf in the T20 perspective as well.
Saurav has improved his fielding tremendously winning 4 Karbon Kamaal catches (more than any1 else in the tourney) apart from effecting the all-important run-out of Gautam Gambhir and saving some precious runs with good fielding - and thus has contributed in an area he was considered the weakest.
The Captain in him ofcourse is a bonus.
Sachin too has shown character in the captaincy role by picking up the rite combination of 11. Saurav here was a bit unlucky in haveing Agarkar and Ishant Sharma in his team, when both individually r so big spendthrifts in donating runs to d opponents. And getting them bowl in tandem (in d KKR v/s RCB match @ Chinnaswamy, B'lore) is nothing less than a recepie of suicide. That Robin Utthappa was in ominous form that day is another story.

Re: Heartening...

What an aweful anlysis. KKR's performance speaks for itself. Dont get short sighted. Team is sagging and captain is to be blamed for that. Batting in T 20 is on run rate. Doesnt matter whether you play slow and then go fast. Ganguly's overall strike rate is one of the lowest in T 20 history. That he scored as many runs does not speak of his batting calibre. Many players have not played full IPL. He has given one of the max dot balls to bowlers. His batting average is not great compared to others. It can only be said he has bettered his own previous IPL flop records.

As regards captaincy he has slipped also. How come KKR hasnt come to the semis this time when the famous dada boasted that his team is capable of a better performance this time. For that matter KKR is the only team in the 3 IPLs not to have made the semis. Pathetic indded. And see CSK they have made to the semis each time in IPL and has won it this time.

Accontability has to be there for the dismal performance of KKR not in one occasion not in two but an all 3.
I think Ganguly should now take respite from all form of crickets and not continue so shamelessly year after year. Enough is enough!
