I think at Irfan's pace he should start practicing some leg and off spinners - SERIOUSLY to prolong his cricketing career!
The bowlers were lacking in rhythm at the start of IPL. As they regained their momentum the batsmen lost their shine. 20-20 requires to place the ball and hit the loose deliveries. Sehwag never learnt and made same mistakes again and again. Gautam's run outs was disastrous. Dilshan Warner just did not contribute this season. Good they are not in Semis or they would have made a mess in one sided game.
It is better Irfan Pathan should retire from all forms of cricket, becuase now-a-days he is fit for nothing. Once upon a time he was my favourite Cricketer every body predicted him as true replacement of Kapil Dev. He lost his pace, Swing everything. He gave 16 runs in one over, okay batsman is Dhoni, against Deccan chargers he gave away 12 runs in one over. In his below medium pace about 125 Km.ph. if he bowls overpitches and short pitches even Manoj Tewari in one IPL Match took 21 runs in one over of Pathan. So to save himself from further embrassement it is better for Irfan Pathan to retire from Cricket, because as a great fan of Irfan Pathan it deeply hurts me to see one of my favourite bowler and cricketer is butchered in that manner.

You are correct. You can add RP Singh, Ishant Sharma and Sreesanth to that list. They come with a bang, generating hopes. Earn lot of money. Waste their time in modelling. Move and waste their energy on starlets and other distractions. Then they get diffused of all vitality in a short time!!!
Chase: In all circumstances, it is a mathematical impossibility. For example, bowl out MI for just 5 runs and hit a six of the 1st ball, still the NRR is only 0.168 less than Bangalore’s 0.219
Bat first: Score 280 runs in 20 overs; Bowl out MI for 104 runs. Then KKR is in and RCB is out.

I think u r wrong in Saying 5 all out and a First ball six should give more advantage then Batting first

If KKR chases, then they are already out(of semis) even before the match begins!
