tharoor - an allien to keralites
by rajan on Apr 16, 2010 09:52 PM  | Hide replies

I never was a great fan of tharoor. For all his abilities i beleive that the man lacks something basic .AMERICANS found that out and send him packing from the un post.As far as his love for kerala less said the better. i even suspect that he has a contempt for keralites.

by Jack Ripper on Apr 16, 2010 09:41 PM

& i'll scratch yours is the mantra that most business-politico nexus works in our country. This too is an example of the same legacy, except that it has gone wrong...

Both hv vested interests in this matter and have tried to play the game to perfection. why modi twittered is still unclear.. why SP (without any demonstrated sports mgt skills) was chosen for sweat equity is also unclear.

reminds me of a line from Alice in Wonderland.. take my hand and i'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes...

Before accusing someone, at least we have to see his past history. It is a fact that Tharoor doesn't have any role in financial scandals in his entire professional life. So at least he must be given the courtesy of hearing his statement and not make judgments until an investigation proves him otherwise. If Tharoor has misused his office, he should be prosecuted.
My point is that the person shouting bluff against Tharoor ,Modi – this is hypocrisy at its best. If I follow your logic in judging a person even before anything is proved, then what can you say about Modi whose relatives/close friends are having lucrative contracts from IPL, doesn’t that bother you.

What about Modi using his influence in getting

Global Cricket Ventures (GCV), which has bagged digital and mobile rights for the IPL and the Champions Trophy until 2017, is linked to the son-in-law of IPL chairman Lalit Modi, Gaurav Burman

Gaurav, the brother of Mohit Burman of Dabur, a co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, is a director in Elephant Capital Invests, a company which has put $10 million in GCV, to own 50% equity in this Mauritius-based company. GCV, an online media and broadcast company, was set up only last year and within a few months snapped up various cricket related digital rights.

Another Modi relative associated with the IPL is Suresh Chellaram, a Nigeria-based businessman who holds majority shares in Rajasthan Royals. Chellaram is Lalit Modi's sister-in-laws husband.

Dude, Modi is not answerable to general public as the private companies run by their own rules, if there is any misappropriation he was answerable to BCCI and definitely not to Indian public. Tharoor as the public representative is answerable to what he has done, misuse of his chair is a serious offence and should come under the law of this country and certainly you should not think that governing India is not some private entity.

Then why tharoor's officer of special incharge jacob present at IPL auction. Tharoor, please don't act naive and don't expect your country men to be dumb. I used to look at you as visionary and a god send to Indian politics, but all you are is a another greedy politician who want to use powers for personal gain.

Indians-complicated as always. Politicians come into the fray as per advise of IAS officers that it is time to reap riches and then they do mayhem to assasinate the person who created the IPL. The fundamental of Indian politicians is to reap the riches and claim money. If paid all is OK ; if not they will move all govt departments to harass you. No wonder MAOISTS are gaining ground in India and the day is not far when Indian government will be over and a new system will take over. Are you listening you greedy and corrupt politicians??

India is the land of the free. Anyone and everyone has the right to have any given woman or a man. We cannot stop this as we are not an islamic society. Hence to question people of some women is ridiculous and only stems from those who are desperadoes who themselves cannot find women.

Please go through the profile of Sashi Tharoor and compare it with MODI.

Shashi Tharoor career in the United Nations began in 1978 as a staff member of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva.

From 1981 to 1984 he served as the Head of the UNHCR office in Singapore during the boat people crisis.

In 1989 he was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations in New York.

In 1997 Tharoor was appointed Director of Communications and Special Projects and as Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

In January 2001, he was appointed as the Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, and as the head of Department of Public Information (UNDPI).

Modi was convicted for possessing 400 grams of cocaine and charged with assault and kidnapping. Modi pleaded guilty to the crime when the case was heard in the Durham County court, North Carolina and later entered a plea bargain, which resulted in a suspended two year prison sentence

Whose words are more credible???

I am not here to justify Tharoor, I am only trying to tell the misconception of many that Sunanda has already got 70 crores.
But before accusing someone, at least we have to see his pat history. It is a fact that Tharoor doesn't have any role in financial scandals in his entire professional life. So at least he must be given the courtesy of hearing his statement and not make judgments until an investigation proves him otherwise. If Tharoor has misused his office, he should be prosecuted.

Modi is no Saint
by SwordFish on Apr 16, 2010 09:11 PM

Why did Lalit Modi didn't object to the share holder information in the beginning of the bidding process. So is he telling that he was totally unaware of the people who were bidding for the franchise. In that case, the bidding process was a total flawed process and Modi has to take the moral responsibility. (I highly doubt that, especially when big shots like Videocon, Adani, Sahara are involved)

The total ownership pattern of all the IPL franchise is not disclosed, Preity, SRK, Ambani, Shilpa,.... they represent the franchise but it is not still disclosed the entire ownership pattern (that is why Modi said that he will bring those inf: after the IPL tournament).

So if he has not cared to disclose the inf: of those franchise for 3 years, why did he have to ask for those inf: from the Kochi team? and that through twitter. I would also like to shed some light to the pattern in which the bidding process was altered mid way in such a way that only 2 teams were eligible for bidding - Videocon and Adani. Later this was dropped when there was wide spread criticism and BCCI had to set things into order.

I am not saying that Kochi franchise has not done anything wrong. I seriously doubt a lot of black money is floating in IPL. The best method to clear all the smoke, is to go through a vigilance enquiry to all the team and find the source from were the money is coming from.
