as usual keralites are just blind in adoration
by Forrest Gump on Apr 14, 2010 01:33 PM

this is typical narrow mindedness of the south people.

its clear that tharoor had an interest in the stake of kochi team and applied pressure...im not supporting modi whoz a corrupt idiot by himself...but keralites as usual are being blind in tharoor's support coz otherwise they think kochi will lose IPL team...dunno whats so great abt a stupid IPL team as the real sports like swimming, athletics etc kerala is much better than in cricket...

tharoor and co want publicity and fame thru IPL...its clear he will attend these matches in future of kochi team and project himself as saviour of kerala...can he get rid of communist govt. from kerala? guess not and even he knows that...

tharoor is just the excess fat factor of this central cabinet...the sooner removed the better will be its health.

KERALA IPL TEAM
by john kannattu on Apr 14, 2010 10:43 AM  | Hide replies

This is a message for all Keralites. Our contribution to the nation building is no less significant than other states. We never created any unnecessary problems for the country, always remained law-abiding citizens. Of course aberrations are here and there. We are a great advantage to other states because we only try to undermine our advantages, but let other states grow even at the peril of our state, like the famous crab theory where a Kerala crab is never allowed to come out of the tin because all others will drag him down.

But on many occasions, whenever a central project is visualized for Kerala, there is great opposition. The number of Central projects in Kerala is minimal. There is no able leader from the state, most of them are hypocrites.

Now what Dr. Tharoor has done is unbecoming of a Malayalee. He stood his ground, fought for the issue and won it. I am happy and proud about him. I am sure most of the Keralites will feel the same, except few communists.

Keep the fight on, Dr. Tharoor. We want someone like him to lead our state.

I'm a proud keralite. I'm proud that ours is among the most progressive state.

That doesn't make Tharoor any innocent in this issue. Why the othe r franchise owners have to give 70 crores worth equity to is alleged girlfriend for FREE?

Someone questioning his corruption should not make us keralites feel insecure. He did the same thing while contesting for UN generals chair. He held the India's pride as hostile, as if India is loosing. Now he is doing it with Kerala.

Tharoor is not Kerala. Kerala is much bigger and cleaner than Kerala.

Killing the goose that lays the golden eggs...
by Rajesh Shetty on Apr 14, 2010 10:42 AM

Today IPL is a perfect example of killing the goose thta lays the golden eggs. It is also an example of how crass commercialization can kill the very essence of any sport for that matter. Just as too much of state control killed economic growth, vice versa, too much of liberalization will spell disaster. That is why today people like Modi have become larger than life, dictating terms to everyone shamelessly. They say its not the duty of the state to be in business, but at the same time it cannot be partial towards a select group. How come when ICL was created, BCCI banned those players from playing in it ? In a democracy, the ICL has the right to exist just as the IPL has. How come the BCCI which is the custodian of Indian cricket, play such a partisan role to please a few business houses ? It should play the role of developing the sport, rather than playing 'Business Development Manager' using the sport. Its high time all these IPL jokers were reigned in and a state control established for the sport. If IPL wants to exist, let it exist just like ICL - without enjoying any special patronage from a sport governing body like BCCI. Let there be a level playing field.
